Her #alarm went off at 5am... but she shut it off and laid there like nothing happened for another 45 minutes. The Queen and I planned to be up before the #sun and out the door for a #SpartanVirtualBeast. We did this knowing it would be 111 degrees today here in #Arizona. That little detail alone made our early start important. I tossed and turned in the bed beside her waiting for her to make a move to rise. Well, no...that's not quite right. I tossed and turned sending get up now #vibes to the other side of our #king bed. I didn't sleep well or I would have been just as reluctant as she was to move. As I got up and pulled on some compression shorts, the Queen decided to join me. She was pissed off that I didn't give her a morning #kiss first thing. I was pissed she had slept later than she #committed to. One kiss and one acknowledgment of not wanting to get up and we were on our way and out the door. #TeamArcher was getting this damn 21k done... even though we both really didn't want to. But here's the thing... you break you word to other people and you develop a reputation for being a flake. And that's not good. But, when you break your word to yourself you #kill a portion of your soul dedicated to expressing your highest and #best self. Rebuilding your #reputation with others is difficult. But, recovering from lying to yourself is damn near impossible. Especially if breaking your word to you becomes a habit. #Training for life means doing hard things and often times doing them when you don't want to. The #win today wasn't putting in 21k, it was winning the battle against that part of ourselves that wanted us to stay small and comfortable. Team Archer 1 Mediocrity Monster 0. I'll take it. I got up after the first 15 miles (50 mins) to stretch and the machine reset. Today I did the 1st-The Spartan Viral Race, I competed in the Beast. It was 13.67mi running with 30 obstacles (movements) along the way. It was fun however... I haven't been training for distance lately and didn't feel so great today but I was able to put another race in the books. Pic explanations- I wore my green spartan beast arm sweat band because I've never done a spartan without one. - might be hard to see but I had a lot of little rocks, dirt and gravel on my back from some of the movements. - and I listened to about 2:30 of one of my favorite books that seemed perfect for this run... Just trucking along and trying to survive the race.
