#schlangenbad is a quaint sleepy little spa town about 11km from wiesbaden and has lots of hiking paths to offer. there's not much else to do here other than taking the waters and recuperating from illnesses, but that's actually the charm of it. unfortunately the spa business seems to be a bit chipped here, which leaves the refreshment stand and the colonnades abandoned. for a town that's well known to be a place of healing and relaxing this is really not a figurehead. and while i do love abandoned places it still feels like a shame to let this little historic gem decay in such a prominent spot of the town. aaaanyway, i didn't explore too much, as i was dillydallying around in the woods most of the time, in rainy weather ( which i absolutely love ), but i'm sure i'm gonna return soon. they have a public pool with 27 degree spring water that i want to check out, so that's the plan for next time! did you know that one of europe's largest snakes lives here, way up far north where it usually lives? the aesculapian snake can grow to 1,80 m in good conditions, so stumbling upon one might be very exciting. i hope i will find one someday, i wasn't very successful today, though 😅 #spatowns #abandonedplaces #architecture #historicsites #spaculture #woods #rocks (hier: Schlangenbad) https://www.instagram.com/p/B1UFQaroeco/?igshid=1sq3urvdu1n85
