this post will be one of many, many obligatory Titan Speakerman posts. He's one of my top favorites, with good reason...for starters, just look at the guy. He's got fantastic design imo. Then again, I am the most biased man of all time. His design, much like with the other Titans, improves with time.

However, my main adoration is his character arc. ST doesn't use much dialogue obviously, so the tiniest of details can shape the way someone is characterized. With Titan Speakerman, his introduction is simple yet effective. It's part of a central trend in the series, where a new measure on behalf of the Toilets is followed up by a new countermeasure on behalf of the Alliance. Yet, his introduction gives the audience a new perspective on the adaptability of the Alliance. Obviously, he isn't the first of the Titans we meet, that honor goes to the Camera titan, but he shows up quite literally in the flashiest way a speaker can. In my opinion, his introduction also shows the audience how reckless he is. He's quick and doesn't hesitate to take the opportunity to attack. His recklessness is a trait that later comes to define him, especially in comparison to the much more calculating TV Titan or the thoughtful Camera Titan. It intensifies as time progresses, perhaps because he feels the need to prove himself. I'll expand upon this later, probably in another post because this one is already going to be pretty long.

When Titan Speakerman first appears, he smoothly handles the issue at hand and then immediately uses his defeated enemy as a prop for himself. He radiates a quiet sense of pride for the first few episodes he's present -- he waves shyly at the POV in one episode (which, side note, is adorable.) This is in comparison to Titan Cameraman, who is slow, methodical, and not nearly as flashy with his attacks. There's a reason the speaker titan is characterized as the youngest of all three titans, after all. It's not only due to his being the smallest of the three, but also due to the rash actions he takes.

However, everything truly changes for the speaker Titan after the parasites. The infected Titan begins to move slowly and methodically. It isn't at all like the previous characterization we've seen of him to that point. This is, in many ways, uncanny. Even if the clips are short, the difference is incredibly stark. This is not our Titan, and yet it is. There's no song, no music, just noise coming from his soundboxes. The infection took even this small delight away from him. There's a great tragedy in being used against your own kind against your will. In fact, I would argue there's a greater horror in what an infected Titan, or any infected unit, experiences. They remember everything, and can do nothing, as evidenced by the immediate reaction of recovered units. The amount of time that passes from the point of infection to recovery for T.Speakerman is not insignificant. It takes up a massive number of episodes. When he's finally back, the viewer can sense the devastation in him. It's in the way he slowly, hesitantly even, gets back to his feet. It's in the pained way he looks around at the broken landscape. He flies off, and it's clear that he feels remorse for everything that has happened. He feels grief for the ones he's killed and especially for the ones who died trying to recover him.

This remorse, however, fuels his actions throughout the rest of the series. He's determined to make up for what he's done even if it wasn't his fault. The episode immediately after his recovery gives the audience an understanding of how his experiences while infected shaped him. When surrounded by enemies, he pauses for a moment to reflect on how to take them out. Of course, he retains his desire to show off as he takes them all out in one swoop. (Another side note: I always find Camera Titan's reaction to that moment hilarious.) Yet it's clear that he's become a little more methodical in his attacks. It's also clear from the episode after that, he's learning to accept that he can't do everything on his own.

Overall, it's as I said: the small details reveal everything in this series. Titan Speakerman goes through such strong character development that not a single line of dialogue points out to the audience. It's for this reason that he remains one of my top favorites. He suffers from a desire to feel seen, to feel worthy, even, especially after the guilt sets in. I think there's so much that can be extracted out of his story arc alone.

Seven Days of Skibidi Day Three!

Heyyy everyone! I hope you're all doing well today! Day Three is here already :) Today's post will be a bit shorter as I haven't had much time to write. Still, I hope you enjoy reading my little ramble!

Which titan is your favorite?

So. You guys are never gonna believe which titan is my favorite. I know it is absolutely immmpossiblee to guess. I've made a bajillion posts about them and I promise there are many more to come. Obviously, Titan Speakerman is my favorite, followed very, very closely by the other two. It's hard to select a favorite, but their character arc had me practically in love. Of course I love the other titans too, nearly to an equal degree, but the speaker titan has me in a chokehold, to the surprise of nobody visiting my blog, lol.

Assss for a theory...

I don't actually have one right now beyond the idea that perhaps the TV faction had ulterior motives before the main Astro threat arrived. Perhaps in theory, they intended to suppress the other two factions. It's not a particularly solid theory, but it is one of the main ones I have. I do hope to hear some of your theories as well!! Perhaps you'll give me a new favorite theory to run with.
