what does "bridge tender" entail

it means i open the bridge when a boat needs to get thru! :3 most boats can fit under but taller ones like sailboats etc need me to open it so they dont crash. i really just sit in a little room waiting for a captain to radio me & get up to scout around the bridge every now and then since if an accident or something happens on my watch it's My Problem. i don't work with anyone its Just Me for 8 hours until someone comes to take the next shift. its pretty boring & i really just watch youtube and draw while i wait around. its kind of awesome when im not stressed about potential problems
