Pepper is struggling lately and we treasure every day we get to have her at Blackberry Creek. Born with a leg deformity that got worse as she grew, she’s been to our avian specialist several times. There is no surgery or treatment that can fix her. 😢 She has a wheelchair but is getting less and less comfortable, and the doctor said she will eventually have respiratory issues due to having weight continually on her chest in a chair. We’re having a more custom chair built for her now and will continue to care for her until she is in pain or shows lack of interest in food, etc. at which point we’ll help her cross the rainbow bridge and get brand new legs that work. She’s the sweetest and we admire her resilience.
