It's a shame revealing specific research interests would immediately dox any of us here. Like it would be so cool to see what everyone is doing and also how closely related some of our work might be but alas
I don't think people who only have an undegrad degree in chemistry really get to have an opinion about mathematics
Something funny I have picked up on in the algebraic topology seminars at my uni is many people, especially people that do more category theoretic stuff that's adjacent to topology, consider anything where spectra show up to be topology. Like it'll be some result they've proven about a class of categories and they'll give an example that involves spectra and they'll make a comment about how the result says something about topology. In a way they're correct, topology is when there's spectra. But also it's so removed from what people typically think of topology as being
The age old task for a mathematician to come up with good notation
Something about maths that'll never not amaze me is how sometimes you'll read a certain topic and it'll be kinda out of reach, like you kinda get the idea but the details go over your head. But then a few months later you'll come back to it and somehow it makes so much more sense. Maybe it's cause you've realised something that makes it click or sometimes you'll have learnt other things and it'll put it in a new perspective. And it's honestly one of the best feelings
Seriously considering buying myself some Hagoromo chalk
As I said earlier, I have devised a linear algebra problem that should be parceable by undergrads and solved with tricks available to them but that is more subtle so might be quite challenging. Here is the problem:
I will schedule the solution to be posted Sunday evening!
