Jacob moves quickly through the Spectrum House lobby, heading towards the kitchen space. He’s trying to be subtle, a least as subtle as he can be while holding a huge tower of rainbow macarons through the room. In fact, he chose this time of day specifically when he knows the lobby is at its emptiest. After all, this is supposed to be a surprise for the residents. He places the tower down on one of the dining tables, fixing some of the macarons that fell out of place.
Once he’s done, Jacob steps back, shamelessly admiring his own work before heading back to his apartment. But when he turns around, he learns quickly that maybe the lobby isn’t so empty after all. “Oh fuck!” Jacob yelps, jolting away from the person that suddenly appeared out of thin air. After the adrenaline rush settles, he clutches his chest. “Jesus, you scared the shit out of me!”
