Well I finally ordered Odin a id bracelet (http://RoadID.com/invite/4R3YG-TAFNNXVVZQW). I had hoped by now he’d be able to answer his first name but not yet. We aren’t sure if it’s a neurological disconnect like when he loses words (from his CAS) or if he’s being stubborn (eh don’t think it’s that) or what it really is but you can ask him his name, who he is and he just says nothing. He also won’t answer his age.
The child can count to ten and if he sees a photo of my husband, himself and I, he names all of us, Mommy, Daddy and Odin.
My husband brought it up the other day how people give looks when this giant toddler can’t say his name. My husband feels he’s come so far but there is still so far still left to go.
I get the looks too half of the time. I usually answer for him then tell Odin to say hello and how are you and he does. I am not phased by the looks. We were in close quarters at a small post office in our town the other day and this older woman was giving the “looks” hardcore. I just ignore it and as Odin names everything in the room and describes his surroundings I do it along with him. He then proceeded to copy the way she was standing and crossing her legs which was super awesome for me to see.
I am past the point of being concerned if people think there is “something wrong” with my child or whatever people think. Chances are I won’t see them again and they won’t think about it later.
So ID tags like the dogs and he’s almost all set for school next week.
