S.F. supervisors voted 10-1 Tuesday to urge the state to expand the city’s automatic speed camera pilot program
San Francisco District Supervisors Matt Dorsey proposed a resolution to expand the speed camera program after a successful first year of enforcement.
The SFMTA reported nearly an 80-percent reduction in drivers traveling at least 10 miles per hour over the speed limit at camera locations after the program launched in March 2025. San Francisco was the first city to implement the pilot authorized under Assembly Bill 645.
The pilot project was capped at 33 camera locations. The resolution asks California state legislators for permission to expand the program.
you know those speed cameras that take a picture of your car well I had flash at me twice today. both times I was going under the speed limit and when I passed the speed camera and saw the speed limit was 35 i was pissed since I was going 31 and 34 when the stupid thing flashed at me. now i just have to wait and see if i get a ticket
