Transformers Skybound issue 33 spoilers

WOW 33 WAS GOOD!!! I love how peaceful it was, everyone was just enjoying life and adjusting to the new way of life.

Elita getting a ride was nice

Ngl im a bit surprised by Bluestreaks demeanor?? Idk it kinda feels like his personality (in skybound) was retconned a tiiiny bit. During DWJs run it was made clear he had "changed" and came across as quite serious and even cruel, but ever since the writer switch hes been way friendlier?? I suppose its not a super big deal, just a small thing I've noticed. His demeanor really helped show how dire cybertron became, so its odd to see him acting so whimsical and joyous now 😭

I haven't read void rivals for a few months now so I guess this is a tiny spoiler that Hot Rod and Springer left Darak and Solila? Maybe this is my sign to go catch up with it

Wheeljack was surprisingly cute in this panel! Sometimes this new artstyle is a little hit or miss for me (its been pretty good for the most part), but this Wheeljack design is a hard HIT for me, he looks so full of personality

I saw this panel for a split second and immediately looked away out of excitement, i had the biggest smile on my face. FINALLY. FINALLY CLIFFJUMPER GETS A RELAXED SCENE. WITH SHREDHEAD WAAAH

i still really need an actual scene of Cliff and Carly at some point and not just a flashback to them having fun, but hey I'll take any Cliffjumper being happy panels I can get.

ALSO CLIFFJUMPER SAYING "YOU SHREDHEAD. YOU." HE SEES SHREDHEAD AS THEIR OWN PERSON AND IS TRYING NOT TO COMPARE THEM TO HIS OLD CLAN MEMBERS WAAAH THATS SO BEAUTIFUL. Cliff has always been pretty good about that I think, but it is some progression from when he asked Shredhead if they recognized him at all (as in if they had any memories of him as any specific clan members)

Im a little scared about what Cliffjumper heard, I hope its nothing life threatening next issue.. I don't want anything bad to happen to either of them... maybe not the best decision tho considering im reading skybound 💔

Last skybound thoughts post I said "TF Skybound has the same issue as invincible, refusing to kill off MOST characters even when they sustain injuries that SHOULD have killed them" on that note...

I knew he was gonna come back but man I was NOT wrong about refusing to let dead fish lie. I do like the design though. Not sure what theyll do with him, but I hope its good enough to justify bringing him back despite him having a pretty conclusive arc

Overall I liked it! I had some minor gripes with stuff, but I laid those out pretty clearly in this post so I won't go over them again. Hoping we stay in this relaxed state a bit longer because it really felt like a breath of fresh air, I really want more slice of life stuff inbetween big fights 🥹

Oh also I read M.A.S.K issue 1 too, it was decent! The body horror with the wormholes in peoples bodies was pretty creepy. Not much to say on it because it's only issue 1... Curious to see how itll interact with the rest of the Energon universe

I caught up with the Skybound G.I. Joe comic run!!! It took so long cus I had to read all the prequels first ashkdakhs but finally I got to see Hound in the EU :D

Unfortunately they're only JUST touching on Hounds involvement in the plot because he was forced to hide for most of the comic. I looove how imposing they make Hound. Since the comic is from humans perspectives, of course he feels bigger and scarier than the Transformers in the TF Skybound run even if he has no intention of hurting the G.I. Joes.

Another thing I like is that I find Dukes actions believable for his character. Starscream broke him so severely and it has been shown constantly throughout the comic how much he's convinced himself all robots are monsters. Yes he's in the wrong (and he's being mean to hound >:T), but his only experience with these guys was his friend being crushed without hesitation. Now that they've had time to talk it does seem like his opinion is shifting tho :D I hope they get along more in the future because I find their dynamic interesting.

Only other thing worth mentioning... Spoilers kinda. The soldier who survived Starscream because he was a good artist (Agent Martin) appeared in G.I. Joe (HUGE WIN) but... DESTRO ORDERS HIS MEN TO KILL HIM. I HAVE NEVER HAD MY JOY RIPPED AWAY FROM ME SO FAST... I went from: Omg yay he appeared!! To: NONONONO... So fast.

Ik a lot of people in the TF Skybound community have no interest in reading G.I. Joe or Void Rivals, but I do recommend it since you get a wider understanding of the world and what is to come! If you are a TF fan tho I do need to warn you this is a comic focused on the humans (ofc, its literally about the Joes) so you might not get as much cool mecha stuff as you want. The prequels were also a biiit slow at times. I'd say the one I recommend THE MOST is Duke, even if you don't plan to read G.I. Joe it's a good self contained story about Duke. There are a lot of references to Starscream for obvious reasons... If you want the full picture of the story though you should read all of the prequels. (Duke, Cobra Commander, Scarlet and Destro)

Next time I go to the comic shop I might actually pick up issue 19 because I really like the cover with Hound and Duke on it! Here's to hoping they have any left aklsdljkas

Transformers Skybound issue 32 spoilers

Alright sooo I read it. I thought I'd like this one more coming into it, but ehhhh. I didn't hate it, but I think they could've handled some stuff better!!! I'll kinda talk about some criticisms at the end tho cus id rather this post go through positives/general thoughts first >:)

LIGHT BULB SHOCKWAVE IM CRYINGGG we finally get a good look at him AND HE'S JUST A FLOATING EYEBALL

Also he got hit by a car this issue and I think that's beautiful

Poor Bee :( but also THANK GOD. Absolutely nothing against Bee, but I think him staying dead is far more impactful than reviving him (or atleast if we do revive him it'd be at the end of the story.. Death in Skybound SHOULD be permament imo) same with Ratchet!

Friend told me Lugnut looked a little odd but I actually really like how Lugnut was drawn throughout the issue! (Im a Clobber fan, but their designs are basically identical since shes pretty much a gender bend aside from face so I like Lugnuts design too)

Quick note, I thought Breakdown died here and was going to originally complain that Skybound did burying your gays TWICE (astrotrain) BUT after reread I realized Breakdown is seen alive in the last panel, so yeah its chill now, SKYBOUND FINALLY HAS AN ALIVE GAY COUPLE!! (Unless they're not a couple and KO just called his pal Breakdown my dear) Im not even a KOBD shipper since Im not that far into Prime, but I'm happy to see it!

Last thing before I ramble... After reading I can confirm NO CLIFFJUMPER. WHAT IS LITTLE BRO DOING ON THE COVER... It's like they know I only buy Cliffjumper covers and so they intentionally added him just so id buy it 🙄🙄🙄 absolutely amazing cover though, I dont regret getting it :P

OK RAMBLE TIME. (Its a long one, so skip it if you want!)

I didn't really like how they handled introducing all of the Decepticons. It felt kinda... Fanservicey?? Fanservice is fine, but it felt like we prioritized hype moments and aura over like introducing them more seamlessly. They all felt really crammed into this issue (like 7 new characters all at once) and only so people would have something to point excitedly about.

This is hypocritical of me to complain about since I pointed excitedly when they added Bulkhead (because I love TFA Bulkhead) but atleast he was introduced with Mirage so it was easier to digest if that makes sense? I felt overwhelmed with the amount of people introduced here.

I also just dont think adding like 7 people all at once is good BECAUSE SKYBOUND ALREADY HAS TOO MANY CHARACTERS IMO. The autobots were so bloated we SPLIT THEM UP to make them more manageable. Now the Decepticons have the same issue, but on Earth AND Cybertron. Maybe they'll handle it ok, but I'm not too optimistic since I dont think they handled the amount of Autobots well (in my opinion)

Not fully a criticism, but it also feels like they just added a bunch of heavily requested characters/characters that appeal to popular niches in the fandom (TFA, TFP) potentially to get more new readers. I hope it works because I'd love to see more people reading Skybound even if its just to see their fav TFA/TFP character, but I'm here as a Skybound fan and it felt like this issue was more for fans of those series at times.. Im saying this as a TFA fan, but I am biased in the fact that my #1 fav series is Skybound. Basically I think it's fine that they appealed to those fans! I just hope the fanservice is mostly contained to this issue :)

Admittedly idk if they had enough Decepticons on Cybertron to make this issue work (big fight deep in decepticon territory), so maybe they needed to add a bunch of new characters and im just complaining to complan haha

I think to make this a little less jarring I wouldve introduced more of these characters in the background (i.e., during Cliffjumpers mission) to ease people into meeting them, but I guess if we did that we wouldnt have hype moments agfhfjkskd

The issues i have with skybound rn funnily enough are issues i have with the current season of invincible (too many characters, hype being prioritized to a detrimental degree, characters miraculously surviving shit they shouldn't) so maybe its a Kirkman thing lolol. I do love both series regardless though 😭

(Sorry for yapping so much 😭 I just wanted to fully articulate why I didnt like the decepticon stuff, absolutely no judgement if you liked it!) I'm not going to comment on Elitas new sword and the scene with her and tge matrix since I wanna get the full picture of this arc before I decide if I think it was handled well 🤔

Transformers Skybound issue 34 spoilers

This post also has mentions of future covers that have been revealed with speculation on how those covers may spoil future issues, so if you consider that a spoiler then be aware of that too. (specifically the issue 36 covers) I try to keep them vague until the 3rd to last paragraph though.

34 was pretty good imo! I've seen a lot of people finding it mid but I am biased since my 2 favs got a spotlight this issue hehe (though i do understand the issues people have with Bruticus randomly showing up)

Unfortunately I kinda knew going into this TC would lead the Aerialbots in some way, lettership has been hinting at it and the cover for a future issue has straight up spoilers (which I won't go into since some people may not be aware) so yeah... I wish they were a little more conservative with like giving out information of future plotpoints :/ otherwise I do think it's nice TC is making some new friends, he deserves a win

I don't rlly mind the introduction of Arkeville, humans are getting more involved in the story and I think it's better we introduce some TF humans to ease us into GI Joe (if there is ever going to be a proper crossover with them) I'm interested to see what he will do :P

Shredhead why did you think you and Cliff could take on a combiner?????? "Certain" YOURE EITHER OVERCONFIDENT OR A LIAR :( I guess technically they did win, but idk if Shredhead was expecting to suffer injuries that bad

CLIFF LOOKS SO COOL IN THIS PANEL OH MY GODDDDD CLIFFJUMPER IS SO COOL WWAAAAAH YOU GUYS HAVE NO IDEA HOW MUCH THIS MEANS TO ME. HE HAS BEEN GETTING HIS ASS HANDED TO HIM SINCE ISSUE 11 (arguably ever since that skywarp fight waaay earlier, but he had some success im combat after it iirc) AND FINALLY HE'S IN COMBAT AND NOT SUFFERING

I know we're all scared that Shredhead may dieeee... But my honest opinion is Shredhead will not. This bit (like the TC section) is based mostly on a future cover, but I'm gonna actually describe some cover spoilers this time so if you don't want to know I recommend stopping. One of the issue 36 covers has Shredhead alive and well, fighting alongside the earth autobots. Now this doesn't mean Shredhead is confirmed ok since the covers have lied in the past (think back to issue 32 cover D randomly having Cliffjumper fighting alongside the cybertronian autobots despite leaving to join earth). However considering Robert Kirkman is really averse to killing ANYONE major I highly doubt Shredhead will die. This also parallels ratchets death somewhat and I think it would be less narratively satisfying if Cliffjumper had someone die on him in a similar way, it would kinda be development if it was a close call and Cliffjumper didn't suffer more survivors guilt.

Ok the not suffering was kinda a lie NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO SHREDHEADDDDD THE SHOT OF CLIFFJUMPER JUST REPEATING NO NO NO NO WHAT IF I DIED WHAT IF I DIED RIGHT NOW. He has so much survivors guilt can we please give him a break SOBBINGGG

Ooh also exciting news unrelated to 34 I finally got the issues my bestie picked up for me (I was too busy to pick them up for a while) AND IM SO HAPPY!!! The covers look awesome >:) sooo much peak

Who knows though, it's possible Shredhead could die here (I AM BEGGING ON MY HANDS AND KNEES FOR SKYBOUND NOT TO KILL ANYONE OFF FOR ONCE PLEASEPLEASEPLEASE) but I am not too worried as of right now.

Oh right minor criticism I wanna touch on because me and my bestie have been privately bugged by it, and I don't have any big complaints with this issue in particular... Can Robert Kirkman and the editor stop spoiling/hinting at stuff in the lettership? I don't read it too much but my friend has been telling me all about it and oh my goddd it's like they can't help themselves. (Potential future spoilers, but it's nothing specific) "Shocked to see Jazz join Elita Prime's team! I am curious about his motivations." and then they reply: "Be on the lookout for issue #37" I KNOW PEOPLE WERE MAD ABOUT JAZZ, myself included, BUT DID WE REALLY NEED A SPECIFIC ISSUE NUMBER?? They're basically spelling it out that something is up with Jazz, which I'm glad about, but I think it'd be better if we werent dangling stuff thats 3 issues away infront us fans like keys you're jingling to keep our attention. I want to find out for myself so I can look back at previous issues like: wow they planned so far ahead... Similar problems with future covers spoiling stuff. The Shredhead cover I think is fine, it's only a mild spoiler if you read issue 34, but the TC cover is the most explicit cover spoiler I've seen in a while.

Skybound issue 24 spoilers

Wasn't originally going to write my issue 24 thoughts since I KNEW it was gonna be good, but thought it'd maybe just end up being a fight between Megs and Op which I don't have much to add to. I was kinda right, but there were a few things I wanted to talk about!!!

The part where Megatron made Optimus choose between Carly and Spike or Beachcomber I WAS LOSING IT BECAUSE NOOOO NOT MY GOATS YOU COULD NOT MAKE ME CHOOSE BETWEEN ANY OF THEM WAAHH

AND THEN CARLY AND SPIKE JUST EMBRACE AS THEY'RE ABOUT TO BE KILLED BECAUSE THEY'RE ALL EACH OTHER HAS AFTER LOSING EVERYTHING WAAAHH

I got so excited when Shredhead showed up, I WAS SO JOYOUS AND HAPPY!! AND THEN SHREDHEAD TELLS CARLY CLIFFJUMPER SAYS HI IM GONNA ASJKLDJLKASDLJKASLKJD LJKAS THEY FULFILLED CLIFFS REQUEST GRAAHHH

Anyway incase you're wondering what my opinion on the Starscream + the MegOp battle is, yeah they were amazing. Screamers backstory coming full circle was wonderful to see and I am slightly hoping for a redemption if he lasts long enough. Fr thought Megatron would die this issue, but depending on how Robert Kirkman takes his character, idrm him living here!

Skybound issue 25 spoilers

SKYBOUND IS BACK!! So far I'd say its a good start to Robert Kirkmans run :D for todays Skybound thoughts, im gonna just talk about things notable to me hehe

You guys have no idea how much I lost it over this. BECAUSE 2 GOATS IN A ROW?!?@??@ OH MY GOD. Bulkhead is one of my absolute favs and was my most wanted Skybound character, and Mirage I wanted to see debut! GRAHH I HOPE THEY WAKE UP SOON

CLIFFJUMPER BACK CLIFFJUMPER BACK OH MY GOD!! He looks kinda like Galaxies Cliff which is cute!

Yeah not much to say other than that rn cus these r my 2 main focuses this issue (very happy to see the ark found tho, and wheeljack looking at dino bones...) HOWEVER rq I do want to talk about some... thoughts.

Ok so when I say this, I am not saying Skybound is suddenly bad, just some minor critiques I have. First thing, while I love the artstyle, Im a little bothered that everyone looks so clean. Cliff is adorable in the new style, but he was scratched up and missing a horn last time we saw him... did it just grow back?? No hate to the artist, just a bit sad to see since I feel like the battle scars the characters had showed how much theyd been through. I guess they do have some scratches, but it feels a lot more subtle than before.

Next issue... ok so this is entirely my fault for letting expectations get the best of me, but am I the only one a little underwhelmed by the Cliff and Elita scene? I was fully expecting her to imprison him with how mad she was, but hes just walking around now AHFJFLGKSK the whole thing feels a bit dialed back... not sure if DWJ was going to have it be darker and then Robert Kirkman rolled it back a bit or if it was always gonna be like this.

Im a little confused about what Elita is doing... The most confusing line was when she said "i would imprison him if he could be spared" or something. I just dont understand if this means shes not gonna do anything, or if shes planning to execute Cliff. On one hand she feels too chill to be wanting to kill him, but on the other I feel like its out of character for her to let him off the hook out of the blue? Idk I might be misunderstanding this scene ahfjgksk

Also I fr thought bluestreak would side with her considering how he was acting before. A little dissapointed that everyone is kinda siding with Cliff when IMO Cliff should be getting shit for that (even if I think shredhead deserves to be uninvolved in tge war). Both Cliff and Elita are in the wrong, but I would expect the autobots to side with the woman who has lead them for centuries instead of the little red guy. Yes theyre his friend, but everyone on Cybertron has changed.

FOR REFERENCE, LOOK HOW MAD HE WAS AT CLIFF BEFORE?? He looked unconsolable and now hes calm.. it's fine, Kirkman has a diff vision, I hope the direction he takes this plotline is still interesting.. give me some angst PLEASE. PLEASE DONT EASILY RESOLVE CLIFF AND ELITAS BEEF...

Anyway those r my only issues! Everything else was super cool and I'm not gonna judge the whole thing based on my opinion of how it shouldve gone down. I look forward to the rest of the run, I hope it is just as good as issues 1-24!!!

Issue 32 cover spoilers (nothing major)

CLIFFJUMPER IS BAACKKK FINALLY A CLIFF COVER TO ADD TO MY COLLECTION!! Just... 2 months away...

Im not fully sure what the implications of this cover is, I'm assuming the autobots reconciled but some people think they split and the issue 32 covers hints at who picked what side.

I personally doubt this theory because I think Cliff would side with the Earth autobots. Even if he seems to not like Optimus, he has equal reason to not like Elita so it's not a matter of picking who he likes more. Carly and Shredhead probs wouldn't side with Elita and I think he would side with his closest friends.

Maybe his opinion changed offscreen because thats the direction Kirkman wanted to take his character, but I think it's more likely that everyone came together and he just so happens to be fighting alongside Elita. All of this may be my Cliff bias speaking, I haven't even mentioned the whole thing with Ultra Magnus appearing to side with Elita on Cover B if you believe the split up theory.

That's just my theory (reconciling), but if you guys have any thoughts on it, I'd be interested to hear :)

Skybound issue 29 spoilers

FINALLY read it!! Honestly I dont think I needed to avoid social media for this one, but i didnt rlly mind waiting to read it.

I LOVE THIS ART OF SHREDHEAD!! Them saving Optimus was super cool

Brawn got thrown around a lot this issue which I found a little funny, he really thought he could take the massive Decepticons (I say this but Cliffjumper does the same shit AHDHJAJDH minibots r so brave)

AND THEN THE LAST PANEL... I was so wow'd by Elita that I didn't notice Cliffjumper at first, she looks awesome here.

ALSO CLIFFJUMPER IS BACK ON EARTH!??@ LETS GOOOO??? He looks so serious 💔 aren't u happy to be back buddy...

Cliffjumper rant time (skip if you dgaf!!) no hate to the writers ofc, just my thoughts

Honestlyyy I'm a bit underwhelmed by his return... I really thought the mission he went on would have more of an impact on the plot. We got a flash of it, and then we got reintroduced to Shockwave, but I kinda thought Cliffjumper would maybe have a scuffle with him considering the threat levied his way. Its fine and I'm guessing Shockwave is just gonna become relevant again later, but Cliffjumper going through a struggle to get the portal parts would've made them getting back to Earth feel a bit more earned. TO BE FAIR TO KIRKMAN THOUGH!! He does need to wrap up the current arc by issue 30, so I do understand putting that stuff more in the background!

I'm also a bit surprised Elita brought Cliff to Earth with her, I know they're kiiinda cool but even im surprised to see HOW chill they are LMFAOO likeee Elita... You KNOW Cliff is gonna side with Optimus, WHY DID YOU BRING HIM 🥹 maybe its to prove a point to Cliff that Oppie is wrong, or maybe Cliff had a change of heart offscreen (though I doubt it)

Im sure all of that will be answered next issue!!! Ik there will be an Elita Optimus fight next issue, but I hope theres time for Carly and Cliff to reunite!! Might fit better in issue 31 though tone wise. Overall I'd say I liked this issue, I enjoyed the action!! Honestly I'm just glad Cliffjumper didnt get obliterated by Shockwave
