He’d already smoked his second joint of the day (he’s ‘cutting down’, you see), and it still isn’t relaxing the oncoming temper flare he can feel rising up. Nevertheless he finally musters some tiny thread of motivation to stand up and push his chair noisily to meet the side of the girl’s desk with a clang, reassuming his seat backward without any measure of civilised manner, legs spread out and forearms folding themselves over the back of the chair. His jaw works around a wad of gum while he stares the girl down, at most proud if he’s making her uncomfortable. “Okay preppy,” he says, tone dry as he slaps his worksheet down atop the desk. “Let’s get this bull over with.”
