Three Am and out of the Blue: A Spendy Moment
Hey all, it's been a bit since I've written or even posted anything on here! So here is Dialogue Prompt from my love Abby aka @simply-simptastic for my darling BAU Babes Spendy.
Prompt:
❝i don’t need you to love me back. i just want you to be able to accept that this is how i feel.❞
❝why did you think i wouldn’t love you back?❞
~~~~ Enjoy it's pretty cute if I do say so myself~~~
Bare feet made their twelfth trip across the floor rug of her apartment as she paced in front of her boyfriend- a thing she still struggled with in spite of and because of her reason for calling him over at three in the morning. Not to mention that the time seemed to be their witching hour, or that it was the biological precursor to anything that happened in this relationship. Three AM and out of the blue, that was what made Wendy and Spencer’s entanglement thrive. Long fingers brushed against her hand to stop her, wide blue eyes meeting his doe Brown in a battle between panic and confusion. The thoughts flurrying through his mind had to be as dizzying as hers, if for entirely different reasons. Overthinking ever moment, big or small, wondering if that was the moment that would break them- break the tenuous bond they knew oh so many statistics about. Little did he know that of all things to break them, it could be what she was holding back, and had little, really to do with him. No, that’s not true…it had everything to do with him.
The way he laughed, or brushed his hair out of his face, or how focused he would get that he’d end up with a small furrow in his brow. The depth of his knowledge married so well with his empathy for others, and how he treated every case like it was his first. It had everything to do with all these things big and small, insignificant to undismissable that made Spencer Reid the ever so important person he was to her. After a month of stolen glances and cynically analyzed moments, this was the moment she was going to make the biggest confession of all, and yet…she hesitated right as he arrived, walking into the room with a nighon thoughtless brushing of his lips against her temple and a quick settling into his current position on her couch. The ease at which he had done all of it was what prompted the doubt to sink in, which then led to the pacing he’d just put a stop to.
“Wren…” His tone was soft, not nervous, but there was an air of caution to it. “What’s on your mind….is everything…everything alright?”
How it made her heart ache, not in pain or sorrow, but just…in an overwhelming surge of emotion. So overwhelming in fact that she finally just decided to do what she did best, and blurt it out.
“Everything is…perfectly alright, in fact so perfectly alright that even saying it now and telling you what I want to could ruin how perfectly alright everything is! And listen, I don’t need you to love me back, in fact I don’t even want you to say if you love me back, because that’s not even the point of me saying it.”
She resumed her pacing, her hands slipping out of his as she arched and waved her thoughts into existence. “It was merely a thought that kept me awake for a while now and I just- I just want you to be able to accept that this is how I feel, so that perhaps I can move on from it. And then, perhaps, possibly, my mere acceptance of your acceptance could allow me to bask in everything that makes me love you to begin with.
She stopped, looking at him with wide eyes. There: she’d said it. It had been spoken into existence and now stood there between them. That heavy four letter term of devotion that could make or break everything that they were. The air was thick with it, her mind clear for a split second before she started to count the seconds, the long antagonizing seconds of silence that followed. Every single one that passed was a dagger to her heart, an icy confirmation of all her fears. Each one filled her with dread as she stood up, his body stretching tall before her. Each second made the air thick, blocking her throat as he stepped closer to her, his height daunting now instead of endearing, his silence louder than any words he could say to her right now.
That is. Until he kissed her.
Pulling her close to him with his hands on either side of her face in that way that left her breathless, he kissed her. Not fiercely, but it wasn’t without passion, not softly, though it remained tender. No, this kiss was much different from any of the ones they’d shared going back to the day she’d decided to use his statistics against him and introduce herself through one. This one action chased all her fears and doubts way, and said everything she wanted to in that easy way that Spencer managed to do everything. Swiftly and confidently, he’d said what she spent the past few minutes floundering to.
It was over quicker than it had begun, as if he could sense the second it did what he needed to. She’d stopped thinking long enough to start to kiss him back and he pulled away, pressing his forehead to hers. The pads of his thumbs brushed along her cheekbones in soft strokes, his eyelashes tickling at her forehead. And then his words…his beautiful words so full of confidence that it sounded wrong for it to be a question. All she could bring herself to do was smile as he uttered them, making her treasure three Am and out of the blue even more than she had before.
For there at that time, on this particular night he asked her. “Why did you think I wouldn't love you back?” And everything made sense in the world once more.
Gif is was made for me by @andrcwgarficlds ages ago. I hope you enjoyed this cute little scene of my babies, who I really need to write for again sometime soon.
Whelp. I’m afraid @cut-above called it. We had to change real estate agents. But not exactly for the reasons you might think. She didn’t want to put an offer on the townhouse we liked because the seller is “very motivated to sell” and wants to do so ASAP, while we would like a long escrow or concessions or something to prevent or offset the fact that we can’t get out of our lease until August 31. We asked for creative ideas. She shut us down. So here we are. We have a new agent, found an even bigger, cheaper, better (weirder) townhouse, and made an offer on it.
So friends I’ve never met, we will see what happens. The first place we liked is still on the market.
