that touichirou post!! like hes done a lot of really bad & unexcusable things but "its never too late to start being a kind person" is a central theme of the show and also??? in the final arc when touichirou tries to go back & fight mob bc thinks a heroic death is his redemption arc & shou stops him bc he'd prefer to have his dad with him, alive??? 😭😭😭👌👌👌such a powerful, underrated scene!!! It's Good Writing
IT IS!!!
It TOTALLY IS. It’s so beautiful to see media that shows how flawed people are but allows them to grow and change instead of just casting them away to rot??
It’s so powerful to see Touchirou realize that self-sacrifice doesn’t solve any of his problems or fix the pain he’s caused his family, and chooses to walk away with Shou because he has a chance to make things right!!!!
It’s so powerful to see him reach out to Mob’s symbolic hand of friendship and change when he’s saved, when he goes to prison to deal with the consequences of his actions but comes out an ultimately better person??
It’s powerful to see Shou be able to have a family again, and also not be forced to forgive his father for what he’s done to him?
Mob and SU are my favourite shows because they both recognize that people do bad things, that people are never perfect, and promotes the idea of change when they show characters develop and become fuller people. To become better people who support others in their lives. Touchirou’s step towards good is such an underrated moment in the canon and the anime makes it even BETTER.
