His sister still disappears when he's 12 and she's 8, he became suspect no.1 but she was never found and he was never charged.
At 16 he’s convinced the government and the strange navy base on the island is somehow involved in her disappearance. When he finally works up the courage to break inside, he’s discovered before he can investigate the bizarre looking equipment and only has time to grab a single, black glass container. At home, he takes the lid off and a spider crawls out and bites his thumb.
He uses his powers especially to help people police don’t take seriously, ignore or don’t believe, unable to let go of the way they treated him when they should’ve been looking for his sister. He continues to investigating shady government facilities, hoping to one day uncover what happened to Sam.
Not long after he's bitten, his father moves him to DC to stay with him and attend a high tech, science-centric private school. Hoping that the change in scenery will keep him from sneaking out at all hours and coming home covered in bruises. It doesn't.
Given the choice between stealth or a fight, he's choosing fight every time and I wanted the brighter red parts of his suit to highlight where he's most vulnerable, almost like a target. He's almost completely isolated, with no time for friends and his family a shit show. He feels the most alive when he's getting his teeth kicked in, to the point where it's freaking out the bad guys.
That is, until he runs into someone else just like him. Another Spider-Man.
