Unfortunately, you can't trust pet stores with advice. I don't blame your mom, though. We're told that pet stores are supposed to be filled with people who are passionate about animals, but in reality, pet stores are only looking to make a profit, and don't care about the kind of harmful advice and products they sell or who sells it. Next time you look into get a pet, I'd suggest going on a forum of some kind and doing research there. That's what I did before I got my tarantulas.

I had a feeling! I’ve heard stories of pet store employees giving out incorrect info before. I would have done more research beforehand, but I honestly had no idea she was picking him up today! We’ll definitely prepare better next time. 👍

Hey, the round fishbowl definitely needs to go. Round fishbowls are very harmful to fish. It causes stress and confusion for the fish, has no filtration system, and is too small. Get at least a 5 gallon for the betta, and make sure it has a filter. Sorry for messaging you out of the blue, and I hope I don't sound rude or anything.
