First: This is from the post finale fic I’ve been working on since FOREVER.
“When the darkness comes it is not an oppressive, all consuming call to hate. It is not a rush of power or a sudden draining of all emotion. It is not a burning in her veins or an ache in her head.
POV: So, umm, ok. This is from My Enchanted Forest Spies AU which just seems to be getting bigger and bigger and god I really want to publish this at some point because I kinda love the idea a lot :D
“She watches him wander the markets from the shadow of an alley.
She had been delayed by Ruby just as she had been about to leave to meet him for their weekly rendezvous. Urgent need for reinforcements in the south. She had had to lie to her, unable to explain why she was diverting all their forces east instead, why she was refusing to help their soldiers. She couldn’t tell her about her anonymous source, a necessary precaution to keep them both safe. She couldn’t tell her that Killian would be feeding the Queen bad information and that the forces in the south would retreat soon enough.
She couldn’t tell her and so she had lied.
She clutches the scarf covering her hair closer to her face, pulling the edge of it to cover her mouth and nose. Clearly short on time, she hadn’t been able to fashion a decent disguise but after a quick scan of the area, she is almost completely sure that there is no one here who knows their faces.
There was no hiding reputations, of course. The Princess of Misthaven, Commander of the Royal Armies and Captain Killian “Hook” Jones, Dreaded Pirate, Counsel to the Queen. Impressive but not innocuous enough to blend into any sort of crowd. So, when they met, he was Hook and she was Swan. Even though he now stands without it, his left arm tucked into his side, hidden under layers of cloaks as his other hand clenches into a fist and relaxes again and again as he looks for her.
As she waits for him to wander closer to her, she wonders how wise it was to trust him. This man who had sold his loyalty to her so easily, offered it even. This man who had his own agenda, who worked only to his own ends. She hasn’t found out yet what those ends are but she isn’t completely certain that they are something she would approve of.
She wonders how long before he betrays her too. She wonders if she would be able to kill him when he does.
Before she can follow that train of thought, before she can analyse the sudden churning in her stomach, he appears at the mouth of the street.
She grabs at his arm and pulls him in.
He lands inches from her face, the arm not in her grip resting against the wall to keep himself from falling, the other wrapped around her waist. She can feel the heat of his breath against her skin and the weight of his hand at her back. His eyes are wide in surprise for a second before they soften to a smile, his mouth curving into a smirk.
Umm, that got long haha! Like I said, I’m super excited about this one. :D
