I have a new song dropping this Friday, off #SPIJØNGET (Chapter Two). #TheBikeSong feat. award-winning German electronic music producer, Robot Koch.
Towards the end of 2018, after a very dry year for me musically (internal and occasionally external pressure), I decided that the only way I’d be able to release music I love again is if I stopped overthinking, and just SPIJØNGET.
SPIJØNGET?
It’s a word I came up with the day my gut-feeling and I reconciled, the day I decided to stop overthinking my creative process.
It’s an acronym: Stop Postponing Ideas & Joylessly Øverthinking Newly-Generated Expressions & Thoughts, or it simply means “f**k it, just do it”.
That would become the title of my debut album, which I decided I’m going to stop overthinking and release in bite sizes, 3 EPs, each with 4 songs, released at different Chapters of my life, until I complete the album with 12 songs.
March 29, 2019 saw the release of Chapter One, and in almost exactly a month’s time, Chapter Two comes out, with the African Lilies up its nose.
SPIJØNGET made a lot more aware of my overthinking tendencies, so as soon as I could sense them, I’d try my best to stop. In this case, as soon as I got to track 4 going to track 5, I’d stop and just go with 4 tracks, because I’d feel it coming, and that’s how I ended up going with 12 tracks divided by 3 EPs = a process that works for me.
