Okokokay another spike appreciation/angel bashing rant

Angel was too “above everything” angel saw himself as being so righteous and perfect even though as a human he was an a-hole and then when he was a vampire he was the worst, and he got cursed with a soul and the only reason why it took angel to get over it longer than it took spike to was because Angel was cursed with it. He never wanted it back and it was a punishment. Spike never thought he was good enough, he always tried to over compensate and as a human he was a sweet mommas boy who was always rejected and as a vampire he over compensated trying to show the world he didn’t give af then in his later vamp years he got the chip which was something he didn’t want because it made him look weak but it forced him to fall back to the good side amd then even though he didn’t have a soul and still keep the faults and no feeling, he still remembered what it was like to truly love and care for something good and he wanted that. In my opinion, joss putting in the “bathroom scene” was very intense and very uncomfortable. Joss’ justification for that scene was to build his arc.. give him a good enough reason to get his soul back… but fuck you Joss. Joss didn’t even like spike in the first place and he didn’t like that people liked him. I don’t think it was necessary to build his arc. There were SO many other ways that could’ve given him good enough reason to go get his soul back… however, what it DID do was make him realize that Buffy was right. He didn’t have a soul or a solid and reliable mindset and he could never be the man that Buffy truly needed unless he got one, so he went, sought it out and fought for it. He literally went through hell to get it and he earned it.

In my opinion, spike understood Buffy in a way that no one else did. Because of that, he loved and cared for her like no one else could. He was able to relate to her and he never judged her for things that she couldn’t control but he didn’t bring to light her faults that she could control. And he helped her. With angel, he was just always this helping hand and big tree to lean on but he never understood her like spike did. He never helped her actually heal like spike did.

Maybe it’s just because spikes character was just the most developed one in the buffyverse but I still stand by it.

Also something that people never acknowledge is the fact that angel has done so much more harm than spike ever has. Angel has specifically hurt Buffy on personal levels and he tortured Giles and killed the love of his life… yet people always glazed over it. Spike never did that much,, he was just a pest. But Giles and the Scooby gang always hated on him more that angel. I don’t understand why.. it’s like the same reason why they all bash Anya and treat her like a child and separate her from others. They’re so blind and selective even though they’re in no way better than them.
