Iron age spindle whorl, lead with bronze coating, found last season in Østfold. Taken in by the archaeologist on-site.

Conical spindle whorl dated viking age/early medieval, found last season in Østfold.
Spindle whorl found the other day in Råde, Østfold, at our first search of the season. An archaeologist has estimated it to be from the latter half of the 1100s. It is a tool for making yarn, as illustrated in the video on the link below. Diameter aprox 22 mm. Height 11 mm. Weight 18 grams.
