really they're both not really consent, but dubcon is short of dubious consent? so like there's usually a little bit of consent, but by dubious means. it's usually like, not QUITE as rapey as noncon stuff
[ i always think of it more as noncon is someone specifically saying “no” and the other person going on anyway (hence non-consenting), and dubcon is maybe someone saying yes but they’re drunk/high/otherwise incapable of making a completely informed decision (i.e. w/ a shapeshifter they think is person a but is really someone else, etc.) OR a lack of consent one way or another/a reason to believe the person doesn’t want it even if they aren’t flat-out saying no (like that gifset of the girl pushing the guy away and saying “i hate you i hate you” but the guy doesn’t fucking stop) OR someone giving consent but because they feel like they have to (i.e. they’re in a relationship with the person or the consequences of not giving consent seem worse)
so like if you doubt whether the consent is genuine or doubt whether the consent is there. if you are dubious of the consent for any reason, dubcon.
if there is flat refusal, noncon.
does that make sense? am i completely wrong in this? ]
