10.7. 1940 begins the Battle of Britain. Hitler, after the fall of France, attempted to "appeal to reason," but received a clear response: "We shall fight on, even if it costs us everything." The Royal Air Force, with the assistance of Czechoslovak pilots from the 310th and 312th fighter squadrons, held the skies over Britain. 🇬🇧

On June 27, 1914, Jaromír Střihavka was born, a pilot of the 310th and 313th RAF Squadrons and a hero of the Battle of Britain. A native of Dvůr Králové. In the cockpits of Hurricanes and Spitfires, he fought for our freedom. He died in 1994 in Great Britain. Honor to his memory! #RAF #WW2 #Historie

On 10 June 1941, the 313th Czechoslovak Fighter Squadron of the RAF was declared combat-ready, and it began operational activities the very next day. The unit had been formed just a month earlier, on 10 May 1941, as the third Czechoslovak fighter squadron.
