I can’t imagine how one can go from "I DISCOVERED NON-HUMAN INTELLIGENT LIFE AND HAD A CONVERSATION WITH IT” to “Eh, i guess grocery shopping IS more important“ in that short a period of time.

Gotta say though, the VA of the little girl is very shrill in comparison to the rest of the cast. It’s hurting my ears a bit. ^ ^

Oh, so we combine Akane’s role with that of Nagisa’s parents. It’s no wonder that Saki is a glutton now. I knew a guy in school who’s father run a kiosk, and that guy was constantly snacking stuff.

Also, i have just been informed that one of my followers is a fellow German! Was für ein Zufall! Germany represent. ^ ^

On that note i have to stop here, because i just checked and found out that i DO have a doctor’s appointment tommorow morning, and not next week, and over here it is almost midnight. So yeah, can’t really say a lot about it so far since i am less than an episode in, but i’m enjoying it. ^ ^

Sorry for cutting it short again. Gonna go up to and including episode 3 tomorrow to make up for it. So, see ya then.

I like Mai’s outfit better than White’s, but Black is clearly the superior one compared to Saki’s.

Also, it seems we will have Mipple and Mepple analouges again. Makes sense, last time the mascots were basically the conduits of their power. I wonder if we will have another good and evil dimension.

I gotta admit, this looks kinda weird. I think it would have made more sense to put the Splash Star logo below the Pretty Cure one. 0/5, worst episode ever, Splash Star liveblog is canceled.

So just from the intro it looks like Saki is much more happy-go-lucky and carefree than the ever worrying and unsure of herself Nagisa was. I hope i am reading that right, because that would be a big big change.

This could aslo just be a throwaway shot just for the intro, but having Mai be an artist instead of a scientist would also be pretty cool.

So is this the Dark King of this season?Because if so i gotta complain about the Head to Body size ratio again. The old DK had that stuff figured out.

So are we going with Zakenna’s again? They have the same faces at least. I wouldn’t be complaining. A good Zakenna can really add to an episode.

Also, no big explosion at the end revealing Hikari. Literally unwatchable.

In all seriousness though, i like it. It’ll probably grow on me even more as the series goes on.

First we have a Generic American Dad in japan, and now a boy in Saki’s class is a Generic British Posh Youth.

I can already see that this is the beginning of a wonderful friendship.

Awwwwwwwwww, that’s so cute. She draws her in art class.

This is literally straight out of a romance movie. The ending is really indulging in the subtext this time. ^ ^

Okay, at the middle point they were just holding hands, now they are slowly intertwining their fingers. I give this ending a subtext rating of 4/5. Didn’t expect that at all.

Okay, first episode! There is not terribly much to talk about, because a lot of it was just establishing the world and characters. In fact, i will rate both the second and first as one episode, since the second one should be when we will establish the routine of the series. But for what it is, i enjoyed it. It didn’t wow me or anything, but if this was my first series i would definitely stick around for another episode or two to see if it was my thing.

Yeah, second episode coming later today (hopefully). I am pretty busy right now, already cutting it short, so see you then!

I also wonder how or if they will change up the....still don’t know what it’s called....Curifier(?)’s design in later seasons.

Now i (mostly) only know about Power Rangers through Linkara’s retrospectives, but in that show they practically completely reworked how they worked season by season after a certain point.

Power Rangers also always had a theme to the bad guys and Rangers. This is kinda present here (Circulas and Co definitely had the same visual theme, but as Dark Zone residents it’s understandable that they were pretty limited personality wise since we already knew a lot about it from the first season), but “Darkness and Light“ is a pretty standard one. 

I vaguely remember a later Cure theme being baked goods or sweets or something? What i’m saying is i like themed groups, and i hope later seasons have distinct ones for both Cures and Villains.

This makes perfect sense for Japan........Are later cure devices smartphone based?

So i always kinda thought it was implied in FWPC and Max Heart that there had been other Cures in the distant past. So unless otherwise stated, i am going to assume this in every season. For this one specifically though....What would they have looked like in the past? What would be normal to carry around in medieval japan? Combs? Pencils? Jewlery for rich Cures?

Oh shit, the bad guys have won already? This is a pretty interesting change from last time.

So what is this supposed to be exactly? Insects? Are the enemies insects? Or is that what the darkness manifests as in our realm?

I guess this weird looking tree with the bars in the middle is important. It showed up in the intro too.

The food thing again? Wait, i got an idea.....Wouldn’t it be cool if they started the characters from the same baseline as last time but developed them in completely different directions? I’ll let myself be surprised. I’ll wait till episode 20 or so to judge them. Till then, just lean back and enjoy the ride. ^ ^

I’m sure there is a perfectly natural explanation for that.

Saki, alright. Gotta memorize that.

I gotta say, she looks way less like Honoka than Saki looks like Nagisa.

Oh, interesting. Instead of being made of little beings of Darkness that form a greater more destructive whole, Uzainaa’s seem to be corrupted good beings that are trapped in a hellish monster form. Now the excorcising element makes even more sense.

I wonder, if you were to attack a Zakenna with this attack, would that purify them too? Conversely, if you were to Marbe Screw a Uzainaa would their components still be evil?

DId he really say admirable, or was that a shoddy translation? Cause if he really said admirable that would imply that the bad guys want to save these spirit things too. And in that case they should really try recruiting instead of fighting.

If it was a shoddy translation then this has to potential to give first time viewers a really wrong first impression of this guy and whatever group he belongs to.

Now this seems more like it! A substitute for what though? It would be hilarious if Akudaikaan is the new Dark King, and they named him that because he has basically the same role but they couldn’t reuse him due to the different univerese thing. That is probably wrong, but it is a funny thought. ^ ^

Okay? Are we collecting these?

Yup. This is smart actually. A lot of fights in the first two series were just random fights because the villains got their lazy asses up and decided to do their jobs, and nothing was gained or lost for either side. Basicall, the fights were useless. You could’ve skipped 90% of them and it would’ve made no difference. With the drops it’ll at least feel like every fight is an actual tangible victory for the good guys. I like it.

I really hope this will be something she uses a lot. Captain America and Steven Universe have both awoken me to the awesomeness of having a shield as your primary weapon.

What in the fresh hell is this? Leave some flair for the finisher girls.

It took Nagisa and Honka like a season and a half to get to this level of destructive power WITH a finisher. If we are scaling the Cure power up this season then i very much hope the enemy power will be scaled up equally.

I am pretty sure this exact sentence has been used in some Splash Star doujin somewhere.

Awww, i liked them having a combined attack. Their energies mixing together to create a truly devastating attack made perfect sense for a power that requires a bond to function properly. Now it’s just two attacks that happen to hit at the same time.

What? They didn’t even hit. Are they excorcising the Uzainaa’s out of the things they possess this season? It is much less exciting, but it DOES make more sense, so i am actually okay with this. Still think their attacks should have combined though.
