Hey I read your description about how Dean and Cas are having an underlying argument inspite of deeply caring about each other, but why do you think Dean let Cas just stand there and face the grenade launcher alone, when earlier he was being protective of Cas inspite of knowing that Cas couldn't get hurt? Sorry, it's just been bugging me how both Sam and Dean ran to hide and left Cas alone at the car.

Hi anon, you make a good point there! I can see why it will feel like Dean’s being inconsistent. In this case though, this is what I think.

Dean’s instinctive reaction when Cas is in danger is to protect and shield him, even though Cas doesn’t need it. It’s like he doesn’t think first, he just acts. He did this in 12x01 when Mary was trying to shoot Cas, though she could not have hurt him.

In 12x08, Dean made Cas stay in the car because he thought he and Sam could just bullshit their way through the situation (and Cas is still not very good at lying) But the guys were having none of it and that’s when Cas made his appearance and Dean’s instinct was again, to protect. But Cas doesn’t listen to him, he just powers through anyway and stands by Dean’s side. It’s Cas’s way of indicating to Dean that he’s not going to step aside and let the brothers do the work. It’s Cas’s way of supporting Dean and standing by his side.

That I think was enough for Dean to come to his senses and realize that hey! Cas is a fucking angel of the lord (something he seems to keep forgetting). And so when Ketch came along Dean just leaped out of the way on instinct, while Cas just stood there.

Also, blame Bucklemming, who are the worst and most inconsistent writers in the history of the world.

It had good moments. It also had lots of bucklemming moments.

The only good moments I got to see were Rowena delightedly saying “This is the sweetest thing you’ve ever done for me” with rich white dude brains all over her face, and Cas standing like a badass during the explosion while all the others were just running away :P And that’s it¿? Idk, all the rest just made super uncomfortable, it was pretty groan inducing :/

Okay, I missed like half of the episode because my livestream was absolute garbage, but what I did get to see was so fucking cringeworthy and nonsensical and embarrasing¿? Buckleming at its worst eeewwwwwww *barfs* Also, idk if I missed sth happening to Crowley or what, but they literally just made a point of showing how Crowley can teleport this episode, and now their cliffhanger is “omg how will they escape this locked van” and “omg, she’s running away and I can’t catch her” like¿??¿?¿ wouldn’t it be so helpful if you knew anyone who can teleport¿? and idk, I still need to watch it properly, but eeeugh, it didn’t leave me with a good feeling at all, what a massive turd :/
