Could ‘was’ become an ‘is’ to me, Then would I ask no more than this; Or could, for me, the time that is Become the time that is to be!—

I wish I could go back to s4 spn. Life was good then
Dean casually calling Cas “Cas” for the first time amirite
Funny how they're playing Season 4, Episode 1 "Lazarus Rising" on TNT... today of all days.
The episode where Dean - and all of us - became aware of his bisexuality. On Bisexuality Awareness Day...
Sometimes the pieces just fall together...
👨🏻🍳😘 perfect
White Walls and Gold Trim
You know, I was looking at stills from 14x15 Pleasantville and-
This scene looked familiar to me. Like, not the actual character positioning, but the background itself. Forget the fireplace, but the white walls and ornate decorations ...?
It sort of reminded me of this from 4x22 Lucifer Rising. Now, I know that the setting is completely different. One is a much lighter palette than the other, and that’s obvious. But the ornateness? The fake perfection? That’s similar, isn’t it?
Castiel is in a home where it’s suppose to be the perfect life, and in 4x22, Dean is taken to “Heaven”(or whatever it’s been way too damn long since I’ve seen the episode. A pocket of Heaven?) Wherever Zack zapped him, it’s supposed to symbolize perfection from Dean acting as he’s supposed to. It’s almost a mirror to Sam being placed in a symbolism for perfection and what he’s supposed to do.
I mean come on, monitoring the language? How much more Zachariah can you get except Zack didn’t actually care enough to correct that as long as Dean and Sam both played their parts.
Oooh, and there’s the rub, isn’t it? Both of these scenes are about the Winchesters playing their parts. Except Cas is the difference.
Castiel in 4x22 is a solider of Heaven. He’s a part of this perfect order. While Cas of 14x15 isn’t a part of it. He’s separate from the perfect order. So not only has the (actual quality holy fuck this show has been running a long ass time and has evolved with equipment lmao) image turned softer, but even Cas himself is softer.
Cas is no longer Castiel, as we all know. He’s Cas Winchester. He isn’t part of a perfect order, and he sure as hell doesn’t follow them.
Let alone how much I could go off about his posture. How he stands is telling alone. I just think it’s interesting that in both cases, perfection is white walls and gold trim. It’s more than a recurring theme, it’s a definition for what perfection is in the Supernatural universe. Perfection by standards that aren’t to the main characters, anyway.
I mean, obviously this confrontation is completely different. This isn’t even Sam. But in the same way, I feel like the confrontation in 4x22 wasn’t even Cas either, was it? It was the Castiel who was a soldier of Heaven and listening to Zachariah. We knew who Cas was, even back then. Mr. “And That’s Why I Can’t Help You As I Make Shifty Eyes At Heaven” Cas.
It’s harder to compare these scenes, mostly just because story telling techniques have advanced so much. But I feel indirectly this scene was laced with what I’ve mentioned above. The definition of perfection. Not true perfection, but the perfection certain entities craze and run for. White walls and gold trim. Not to mention a mirror to Cas’ own development of going from the soldier to the rebel.
It’s... interesting.
