When the parallels are so good you have to memorialize it in a photo op. @4nticipati0n and I started planning this as soon as we finished Good Omens S2.

SPN MinnCon Day 1

It’s been a mere three weeks since SPN MinnCon but it already feels like a lifetime ago. My life has changed irrevocably with the birth of my child, which was a major topic during meet and greets and photo ops. It feel strange to be writing this now, after such a life altering event. But I put some time into this each night of the con after I got back to my hotel room, so it should be in the moment.

My dumbass left my house late. I hadn’t curled my hair with a straightener in ages and I think I underestimated just how long that would take. And the drive is about 30 minutes. So, I got to the convention center with about 10 minutes to spare for opening ceremonies. I got my tickets all traded in except for VIP and headed into the theater. I had to dip out of Rachel Miner’s Q&A early to figure out what the hell the deal was with VIP since I’d never done it before, but I happened to run into the right person, Kerri, my VIP host for the weekend, at the back of the auditorium.

I spent the rest of the day in the VIP room, hopping in and out for Q&As but always heading back to VIP for 10-minute Meet and Greets. I can’t share anything that was talked about in VIP/Meet and Greets, so unfortunately, a lot of what I documented every night of this convention will be redacted for public posting. Sorry folks.

Noteable Q&A Moments:

-          The original script for Annie, Alexis, Alie whatever that episode was called, was going to have Alex die and Jody would give herself over to an angel because of this and never show up ever again. They were going to write Kim off the fucking show…

-          David Hadyn-Jones and Adam Fergus did the jump-catch thing from Dirty Dancing twice, only to then have Kim punk them at karaoke later tha tnight, making them sing Time of My Life. At the end, David and Adam attempted the jump-catch thing again and nailed it. I got video on my phone and posted it to Tumblr that night. I’ll reblog it after this.

Day 1 was a bit of a whirlwind, but it was an excellent start to what would be an unforgettable weekend.

Omg if I have to type this story one more time, Tumblr…

Today I received a wonderful little gem from the amazing Chris Schmelke.

This... @fuckyou-mavhenan and I weren’t planning on doing this. We agreed that, when we purchased our silver weekend passes, autographs sated our needs in meeting most people. But when we arrived at the con Friday morning, we decided to check if any tickets remained.

One. There, on the table, was one Jared and Jensen photo op. We split it without hesitation.

And these two. I can’t get over how nice they are with their hugs and smiles and “thank you, darlin’” and a rub of the back I walk away.

“Separate Ways” by Journey was playing as we were waiting in line and Jensen did little dances in between people, sometimes mouthing along to the words. So as our turn came, I kinda shimmied over to them and Jared started doing a little dance, too. It was super cute. And then I had to shout over the music to tell them what we wanted to do. Felt kinda obnoxious.

Jared is a very sweaty man. :3

So I tried scanning this last night and it looks like shit, so here's a picture of a picture. Jared and Jensen are the sweetest people. Their con presence this year was muted, though we all knew why. Their families were in the middle of Hurricane Harvey without them, and though they were fine, I can only imagine the stress they felt being away from their loved ones in a time of need. But they were still magnificent. Jensen is very quiet in person; my autograph with him went quite quickly but he smiled and rubbed the back of my hand when he pushed my journal - my replica Henry Winchester journal - back to me. Jared on the other hand is much more conversational and animated during autographs. His line took ages because of this but I wouldn't have it any other way. I added a custom page to the journal - it came with printed pages the mimicked the journal from the show very well but was missing the angel exorcism language. So I figured I'd add it quick while I was waiting for autographs to start. And after I added it, I knew I wanted Jared to sign that page. The second he saw it he was like, "Oh hey I know this, this is so badass," and I told that I'd just added it. He looked the rest of the journal over and I explained it was a replica except for that page. And he said, "that's so cool, you remembered the angel exorcism, this whole thing is super cool," then signed it and thanked me with a classic Texan "darlin'" tacked on the end. I'll post pictures of the autos with their stories later. :)
