“I think there’s a flaw in myr code. These voices won’t leave me a lone” -Hasley (Gasoline)
I think this line of lyrics fits Spock perfectly because if you think about it to the Vulcan race it’s like there is a code of what is acceptable (Logical) and what is not. Spock being half human has a flaw in his code meaning that the moment he shows his emotional human side he feels like he has failed at logic. Spock battles with this everyday and most of the crew besides Kirk, Uhura, and McCoy don’t know this. Spock is trying to fit into a society that he is unsure will accept him, assuming that all of the other Vulcans were cruel to him growing upp he isn’t used to being accepted by his peers so when his friends show him the respect that his own kind couldn’t give him it makes him wonder if what he feels is right or not.
((So I went to see Star Trek: Beyond for the second time today! Finally had to say something because I love Spock and McCoy! I actually sorta ship Spones XD anyway after hearing a few lines from this song I just couldn’t help, but to be reminded of Spock and his inward struggle! Loved the movie although I’m not going to spoil it for those of you who haven’t seen it yet. There is a dramatic display of emotion from Spock that is actually really funny given the circumstances. For those who’ve seen the movie already you know exactly what scene I’m talking about that involve him and McCoy! LL&P))
