Statement regarding reports on Mladic's health.
“It has been reported by some media that Mladic has pneumonia. I can confirm that he is currently receiving medical treatment but I am not at liberty to reveal its nature. Concerning the allegations in some media that Mladic had collapsed last week, I would like to stress that these are completely inaccurate. The delay in the start of the Status Conference on Thursday 6 October had nothing to do with the health of the accused, but rather with a delay in his transportation from the Detention Unit to the Tribunal. As such, these unfounded speculations cannot be linked in any way to the treatment he is receiving today. As I have stated previously, Mladic was transferred to the Tribunal with a series of pre-existing medical conditions for which he is receiving treatment. The Tribunal continues to provide Mladic, as any other detainee, with the best possible medical care and attention available in The Netherlands.”
