So with Pox, how does the disease act? Like if he's in an area when not wearing a helmet for example, would the area have to be decontaminated? How far around him is the danger zone?
The thing about Pox's strain of Chordopoxvirinae Caeruleum is that it's a mutated version of the original virus Sulu Ra created. The main strain was airborne and highly contagious, to the point it clung to an area of effect wherever it was released.
Pox's strain is not airborne. Its solely contracted through fluid exchange.
However due to the adverse reaction to fresh air that his mutation has caused, Pox tends to vomit when his helmet is breached. No one is quite sure what triggers his gag reflex, but it always coincides with getting a sudden burst of unfiltered oxygen. It might be that he's just super sensitive to pollen and dust in the air.
Anyway, where am I going with this, you might be asking? Well I've mentioned briefly that his stomach acid (having become much more potent than it should be), tends to eat away at organic and inorganic materials. Every single person who's tried to help him in the past has thusly become infected because he threw up on them and his vomit burnt all the way down to bone and infected them. If not for the virus's quick fatality septic shock would have probably killed them anyway... But that's not the point here.
The point is, Pox thinks he's infectious in the same way the original strain was. He doesn't know that it's become a fluid exchange only thing, so he's isolated himself for fear of infecting (and subsequently killing) others.
That said, his bodily fluids are legitimate biohazards that do need to be disposed of correctly. If he throws up or even bleeds on something, that thing needs to be incinerated ASAP. At least until some form of cure can be created to combat it... Although that said the one vod invested in finding a cure is a little concerned that Pox has mutated in such a way that killing off the virus might further harm his compromised immunity system.
