Ranger’s Apprentice and Spook’s Apprentice have essentially the same base premise it’s just the main character in Ranger’s gets a high profile government job and Spook’s main character gets the in world equivalent of apprenticing to be a sewer operator in London with no paid overtime and no benefits.

I remember watching this movie on french class in 7th grade after reading the book (The Spook's Apprentice, in the original and L’apprenti épouvanteur in french) because this movie was an adaptation of it. AND GOD I HATE IT LIKE WHAT WERE THEY TRYING TO DO-

And then we got a homework to say which version we liked less, and I was just trashing on the movie 😑

Rereading The Spook's Mistake, and am kind of wondering how long The Fiend was impersonating Mr. Gilbert?

When I first read it, I assumed he'd only started impersonating him on the day he gave the Spook and Tom the fake letters, but the more I think about it, I wonder if he might have been the Fiend for the whole time.

When we first meet him, he references his son and daughter who help him out sometimes, the daughter we later find out is Morwenna, and the son could refer to any number of abhumans or even Loki. Of course it may be that Mr. Gilbert and the Fiend just happen to have very similar families, but that seems like a bit of a coincidence. Also, when he gives Tom a lift to the mill, it is noted that the food Mr. Gilbert prepared is undercooked, which in retrospect seems like foreshadowing that he isn't used to cooking, and isn't really human.

Summer Book List

So we all have a summer book list. Well, I did anyway... And year after year, I manage to just about get one book read off my list, so I have decided to convert it to an AWESOME-LIFE-BOOK-LIST (except it’s much less intense and on my phone..) But anyhow, I have completed not one, not two, but FIVE BOOKS throughout this summer. And I am hella proud of that. 

So to all of my fellow bookworms that love to read but it takes them a little bit longer than most. STICK AT IT. Because you know, we just get to spend longer than everyone else in the worlds we love.
