I loved Graham.  I nearly stopped watching when he died.  

It would really be great if OUAT stopped killing off the positive male influences in Henry’s life.

No, but Inuyasha probably is a virgin. Kikyo probably didn't want to risk it because she didn't want to get pregnant, especially when she protected the jewel. She wanted to wait until after it was purified.

I totally agree.  I think Inuyasha and Kagome will be each other’s respective ‘firsts’.  And I see Inuyasha as being very awkward and nervous and Kagome being confident and taking the lead.    

I definitely think Kikyo wanted to wait until after the jewel was purified for a multitude of reasons—namely, that she would no longer be the jewel’s protector, she could marry Inuyasha without causing a scandal in the villagers’ eyes, and of course, to avoid getting pregnant, which would cause even more issues if she was still the jewel’s protector.

part 1: I needed to get this out, and I figured you'd be the one I'd tell it to. I've been reading and watching a lot of Inuyasha lately, so I'm just like, I acknowledge that Inuyasha and Kikyo have a past, but I don't get how some people can't see how unhealthy their relationship is. For one thing, she is dead. There is a time to move on, and pining after a dead girl is not healthy at all.

Also, even in the past their relationship wasn’t healthy. The fact that they never trusted each other, (that he never trusted anyone until Kagome) says wonders about them. Not to mention, Kikyo was very selfish to want Inuyasha to become human so the jewel would purify. Even then, it wouldn’t have worked, and she’d still be stuck with it. IDK; Kikyo is an interesting character, but her relationship with Inuyasha is the big reason why I ship Inukag.

Friend, you may come in here rant about the superiority of InuKag over InuKik anytime you like.

Inuyasha and Kikyo certainly had a connection and an important one.  I certainly believe that Inuyasha loved her devotedly and that she loved him too—at least, past!Kikyo did, jury’s still out on undead!Kikyo.  

Half the reason Inuyasha couldn’t move on was because Kikyo couldn’t move on—she refused to accept her death and pushed forward, collecting souls from young women to sustain her, nursing and healing innocent villagers while gathering her strength in order to defeat Naraku.  Inuyasha is extremely monogamous—loyalty, in every respect, is one of his defining features so when we have his former love walking around, he feels loyalty to her.  The connection can’t be severed because Kikyo won’t sever it.  Now I can’t really blame Kikyo for that—who wants to die, particularly when they have unfinished business—but a lot of her actions from that point, particularly towards Kagome are cruel and uncharacteristic of the Kikyo Inuyasha loved.  

I know I belabor the point a lot, but it was fucked up for Kikyo to steal Kagome’s jewel shards and give them to Naraku. It was fucked up to try and kill her.  It was fucked up for her to let Kagome drop into a pit of mental torment, particularly when Kagome had done nothing to deserve it.  I have never really gotten past this moment because I found it so despicable.  But she gave them to Naraku so she could defeat Naraku!  Well whoop-de-do for Kikyo, first off, that’s a terrible plan that will involve a lot of innocent lives lost, and secondly, what exactly gives Kikyo the right to undercut everyone in pursuit of Naraku?  Sango and Miroku have just as much reason to want to defeat Naraku as she does.  Basically, my point is that Kikyo’s pride drives me bonkers.

I do agree with you, I think that while their past relationship had a lot of passion, there was a severe lacking of grounding.  They went from enemies straight to lovers, with no leeway for friendship or companionship.  No wonder they had trust issues.  

I have to believe that some of Kikyo’s intentions were good—wanting to be with Inuyasha, wanting to spare him the prejudice he’d dealt with most of his life, and wanting to purify the jewel.  But yes, I think some of her motivations were selfish—wanting to escape the burdens of guarding the Shikon jewel, become an ordinary woman, and be with Inuyasha—as a human.  Not to mention, if they had actually enacted her plan, the results would have been disastrous.  

I find Kikyo very interesting and compelling.  I’ve noticed in the fandom she’s either demonized or idolized, rather than taken for what she most closely is—an anti-hero, a character who is extremely flawed, has done some terrible things, but whose motivations eventually become pure and good.  Kinda similar to Sesshomaru in a way—I’ve seen that parallel floating around and it has some merit to it, though I’d argue that Sesshomaru’s growth was more dramatic and visible while Kikyo’s growth was rather in the background and almost too subtle to see.  (Considering the parallels, I’m starting to understand why people ship them now…)  

But you’re right.  Inuyasha and Kagome’s relationship was a lot healthier than Inuyasha and Kikyo’s relationship.  Inuyasha and Kagome bring out the best in each other, there’s no idealization of the other, and are close friends as well as lovers.  Inuyasha and Kikyo were never friends, which I think says something important.
