aight so spoopykimm u asked for gerudo headcanons and i just cooked up some so here goes oh boy
i was thinkin on how the whole “we have one male born every century and we make him our king” thing could be subject to mistranslation, cause i refuse to believe that the gerudo didn’t have a language and culture of their own.
and my mind drifted over to this one thing about dwarves (i think it’s specifically tolkien dwarves?? and i don’t remember if it’s actual canon or just a headcanon) and how like, dwarf women totally have kickass beards and there’s probably little sexual dimorphism among them. and the idea that, when outsiders asked them about it, dwarves would respond that they come from caves (because it’s true, really, in more than one sense), and that’s where the myths of dwarves being born from rocks and dwarves not having any women come from.
so like what if the gerudo have something similar? like they don’t give a hoot about what genitalia you do or don’t have, you’re just a gerudo. and some gerudo - specifically one a century - are just born different, like, however you want to justify it - they just magically know, or it’s a spiritual thing. and for them it means being born a “king” but somehow that got mistranslated into hylian as “born a male and appointed king” and the gerudo just kind of roll with it cause they can’t really be bothered to keep correcting the hylians on the matter
yeah i like this
