Soft chimes echo in the room, down the hallway, out of sight from the source. It is heard despite the barriers of walls and it sounds as loud as it did in the last room as it does in this one.

Music boxes were never a favorite of the Batter. It always elicited memories best left forgotten and he didn't appreciate anything which reminded him of such things.

Merchants were always grabby handed with music boxes. The sounds of this one seemed to go on forever. He couldn't find the damned thing. The longer he searched, the angrier he became, and the louder his snarling got.

By the time he stalks down the long hallway and confronts the merchant waiting for him, it only takes a single step for him to spontaneously shift forms. Cleats dig into the floor as the sound of cracking and grinding bones break and mend back together, elongated features and blunt teeth threatening as tiny drops of black saliva drip onto the ground.

There's not even an explanation warranted and the creature simply lunges toward him, claws spread and jaws simply aching to crunch down into soft tissue. With a snap of teeth, it attempts to provoke the man into running. 

A chase was the best part of the meal.
