(you don’t have 2 answer this) you’re not supposed to touch puppies? :C
we can! muslims just have to wash up in a certain way if we touch their tongue or their nose. in fact, dogs are highly regarded in the quran as guardians. :) unfortunately, a lot of muslims in malaysia were raised to abhor dogs (and pigs).
a few weeks back this muslim man organised a dog-petting event, expecting a small crowd. close to a thousand people of all races turned up. some were dog owners who volunteered. many were people wanting to learn more about dogs. that was my first time touching doge and it was beautiful. unfortunately, the event was met with much backlash.
you have this horde of holier-than-thou fuckwits who argue, "TOUCHING DOGS WITHOUT AN URGENT NEED IS FORBIDDEN. if you're going to touch dogs, what next? you're going to have them as pets? you're going to organise a touch-a-pig event? you're going to advocate free sex next aren't you?!"
a point my boyfriend brought up some time ago, albeit more politely: a few years ago smoking was declared forbidden to muslims (on account of it being harmful) but does anyone give two shits? no. these people just hate dogs.
tw for racism and violent threats but mostly tw for immense stupidity.

this is how malay muslim authorities and politicians treat their own race. they twist religion to their benefit. can you imagine how they treat people of other faiths or ethnicities? like dirt. i cannot speak on racism in malaysia though, having indigenous privilege, so i will end this rant here.
tldr; doge are beautiful creatures and deserve all the love they can get.
