Sporemound (Magic 2014) - Svetlin Velinov
Is Sporemound and Life and Limb an infinite? Or can it infinite after making another saproling? the introduction of new fungus/ saproling support for edh and brawl makes me curious.
Yes, this is an infinite loop. It’s also an infinite loop of mandatory actions, so the game will end in a draw unless any player removes either Life and Limb or Sporemound from the battlefield.
The loop works as follows:
A land enters the battlefield. This triggers Sporemound.
Sporemound’s trigger resolves, creating a Saproling token.
The token is also a Forest and thus a land, so Sporemound triggers again.
Sporemound’s trigger resolves, creating a Saproling token.
The token is also a Forest and thus a land, so Sporemound triggers again.
...etc.
If I have Sporemound and Life and Limb in play, and then play a land, do I get infinite Saprolings?
The game is now in an unbreakable loop. Unless you can remove either Sporemound or Life and Limb from the battlefield, the game will end in a draw.
If you can break the loop, then yes, you can get an arbitrarily large number of saproling forests.
