The Melbourne Rectangular Stadium is an outdoor sports stadium on the site of Edwin Flack Field, Olympic Boulevard, in the Sports and Entertainment Precinct, in inner Melbourne. Also known as AAMI, this stadium is Melbourne’s first purpose built rectangular stadium. The stadium can seat almost 30,000 people.
Docklands Stadium is a multi-purpose sports and entertainment stadium. Its construction started in October 1997 under the name, "Victoria Stadium" and was completed in 2000 at a cost of $ 460 million. The stadium is primarily used for Australian Rules Football (AFL) and is the headquarters of the Australian Football League, and Seven Network's digital broadcast centre. The stadium has a colosseum arena structure, 1000 video seats, 13 function rooms, 66 corporate boxes and an external superior screen.
Melbourne Cricket Ground is the largest stadium in Australia. Located within the walking distance of the city centre, this stadium has hosted 1956 Summer Olympics and 2006 Commonwealth Games, apart from other major events like International Rules between the Australian Football League and Gaelic Athletic Association, International Rugby union, State of Origin Rugby league, FIFA World Cup and other international friendly matches. The MCG is listed on the Victorian Heritage Register and was also included on the Australian National Heritage List. It’s most famous moment in history was as the main stadium for the 1956 Olympic Games.
