Sprague Lake In Winter Another picture from last spring while on a photo trip with a couple of good buddies. We drove up to Estes Park one late afternoon. It started snowing that night and we feared with the prediction of 8-12 inches we would be snowbound on our first day of our photo trip. When we awoke early the next morning we discovered we only had 3 or 4 inches of beautiful fresh powder. One of our first stops was Sprague Lake. As the sun rose over the mountains in the early morning, the fog started to lift. Beautiful soft light against blue skies offset the white snow and the colors of the lake and the surrounding countryside. The air was still as it normally is after a storm with slight ripples sometimes interrupting the reflections in the water. This image is a combination of about 12 vertical shots stitched together.
