The Beetle
Spray Printer
3rd St @ Army in San Francisco, Ca
3 post today - All Art and Technology __ Back in 2016 a small Estonia start up called Spray Printer came to our attention with a new way of spray painting art on a wall. They developed a device that interacts with smartphones. Through a led-light on the spray can printer that communicates with the smartphone it is directed where to place each specific color of the image on the wall. The smartphone program tells the printer where to apply colors dots by color path. When they came to San Francisco to meet with funding sources we invited them to demonstrate how it worked by painting a small mural on the street. __ Since that time they have continued to enhance the product and attached it to a long vertical rod mounted on wheels that traverses a wall applying the dots in a fraction of the time it takes to do with the hand held version. They demonstrated this recently at a tech event at the Midway Gallery where you can see the beetle mural on an exterior wall and the hand in the entry courtyard. __ See Spray Printer and Midway Gallery
