DIY Fabric Spray Starch: Starch adds crispness and structure, providing body to cotton and linen items. It aids in ironing, easing the process of Quilting & Sewing.
Fabric Spray Starch Recipe
1 1/2 teaspoons cornstarch 2 tablespoons water (from the measured water) 1 3/4 cups water ¼ cup potato vodka (Any vodka will work)
Instructions: Mix the cornstarch with the 2 tablespoons of the measured water and whisk until smooth Heat 1 cup of water on stovetop until boiling Slowly add cornstarch mixture while whisking constantly Cook for about 2-3 minutes, whisking constantly. Mixture should be cloudy in color and will be slightly thickened. Whisk in an additional ¾ cup of water and remove from heat. Let cool, add vodka. Stir well. Pour into a fine mist or adjustable mist spray bottle. Shake before using. It settles when it sits. In my experience, it lasts a full 6 months and then it gets sour and needs replacing.
