Spring Fashion Week: Trends from the Runway

Spring Fashion Month is finishing up in Paris as we speak with designers like Dior, Chanel, Versace, Armani and so many more showing their Haute Couture lines! But now that we’ve seen all the ready to wear shows along with most of the haute couture lines we’ve began to see some repetitive trends on the runway giving us a glimpse in to what trends will likely be hitting stores this spring.

Heres some trends that were hard to miss!

Tribal

Valetino’s runway in particular, was full of tribal inspired gowns, jackets, skirts and more. This trend has been in and out over the past few years and looks like we’ll be seeing at least some touches of it this spring. (Photo: IMAXTREE)

Old English Sleeves

From mutton to renaissance bishop, designers are putting an old English spin on sleeves this season. I doubt we’ll be seeing full on puffy mutton sleeves in the stores this spring but expect to see a variety of sleeve silhouettes and some serious detailing! (Photo: IMAXTREE)

All Over Sheer

While lace and the naked dress have be ever prominent the last few seasons this time around we’re seeing a sort of wrap dress silhouette that’s been simplified from past seasons. (Photo: IMAXTREE)

70’s Strong

70’s styles have been big for most of the last year and it doesn’t look like they’re going anywhere! This spring expect to see similar patterns, prints, and textiles but in more polished silhouettes. These three looks are from the runways of Alice + Olivia, Coach, and Rodarte. (Photo: IMAXTREE)

Can We Say Carrie Bradshaw?

Think pinks (and red!) and ruffles! Over the top feminine styles we’re all over the runways at fashion week (Tome, Isa Arfen, and Jason Wu) which means we can expect to see a revival of feminine shapes and prints this spring! (Photo: Getty Images)

90’s Low Rider

Although this won’t be the case for all, thanks to the 70’s trends holding strong, 90’s esc ultra low rise bottoms are coming back! Expect to see slouchy silhouettes everywhere! (Photo: IMAXTREE)

Water Colored

Could be thanks to the 70’s still reining supreme but outside of the typical spring florals, a sort of water colored tie dye is shaping up to be the print of spring! Just think how boho it’ll look in a maxi or flowy blouse! (Photo: IMAXTREE)

Some other dominant trends were cutouts around the shoulders, a mix of both minimalism and maximalism, and soft feminine textiles.

Runway 1 :: Melbourne Spring Fashion Week…and friends!

Last night I was more than pleased to hang out with one of my oldest and truest friends, Leafy. Friends for 10 years and have now seen each other through to the other side of becoming a mama we were more than happy to revisit two of our favourite things – Fashion and Food! Spring Fashion Week is at Melbourne Town Hall from 31 Aug – 8 Sep. A great prelude to Spring Racing Carnival which of course us girls will make it along to. My fave of the night would have to be Aurelio Costarella. We started with dinner at Fed Square and after the show had a late coffee at Chocolate Buddha! Great night out…thanks Leafy ♥
