Author’s note: This is based on one of my headcanons with Curt & Rod, where Sprite will jump up onto them and play with them instead of clawing at their curtains. @sapphireroses282's comment on my headcanons motivated to make the idea into a fic 👀! I hope you enjoy Day 12 of Tickletober: Black Cat from Nym’s Tickleween list!

“Mahahateo! Gehehehet her off mehehe!” Curt giggles while he calls out to the caretaker of the inanimal that’s currently crawling around him. Sprite, the American Cordhair, who looks just like a black cat made of wires, occasionally scratches her claws on the curtains—also known as the curtain duo Curt and Rod. Curt saw her approaching them and thought it would be a good idea to catch her before she could perform the heinous act. When Curt threw his arms forward and tried to scoop her up, she jumped over his arms and onto him. Clearly his plan went so well…
“I’m trying, Curt!” Mateo replies. He’s trying to grab at Sprite, but she’s a fast one. “Come on Sprite! Hold still!”
“Merow!” Sprite meows and hops across Curt’s shoulders before sliding under his arm, grazing her smooth cords, like fur, across Curt’s skin as she scampers. Every time she moves, her claws cling to Curt’s clothes and the presses of her paws tickle, making Curt giggle up a storm. He’s doing his best to stand still so he doesn’t hurt the creature, but he can’t help the occasional flinch or twist when Sprite runs or grazes over spots that make him laugh. Unfortunately, Curt’s squirming only makes it harder for Mateo to catch her.
“I can’t tell if she’s playing or being a menace,” Rod says as he watches the scene.
“Both,” Mateo answers. “Though, she hasn’t swatted Curt in the face yet, so I think this is on the side of her playing more.”
“Whahahatever it is! Cahahatch her!” Curt giggles. He suddenly wraps his arms around himself when Sprite hops around his torso like she was jumping gracefully on lilypads, allowing Sprite to pounce on his arms and crawl up his shoulders. “Rohohod! Help me!”
Rod keeps his arms crossed. He grins, “And stop seeing my best bud get absolutely demolished by an inanimal? Nah. I think I’m good.”
“Rohohod! I’m going to–AHA!” Curt jumps and lurches forward when Mateo accidently squeezes Curt’s sides.
“Mateo!” Curt exclaims.
“Sorry! Sorry!” Mateo replies from his genuine accident. “I thought I had her!”
Rod on the other hand just snickers. “Go on, Curt. What were you saying?”
Curt growls as he tries not to move, like he was getting fitted for a new outfit, except for the fact that a creature is swirling around him. “I wahahas saying that you’re going to eat those wohohords!”
Rod’s face grows an enormous smirk. “Really? How can you make me eat my own words when a cordhair has got your tongue.” Rod pokes Curt in the belly, making Curt flinch back.
Curt narrows his gaze at him. Sprite jumps up on his shoulder, flicking her tail across the back of his neck. “Rohohod! I swear, I–”
“Gotcha!” Mateo finally snatches up Sprite in his arms. Curt lets out a sigh of relief. All of his muscles relax as the lingering tingles of tickles leave his body.
Mateo holds Sprite close to his chest, his arms under hers as her paws drape over his hands. “Phew, glad that’s done.” Mateo smiles down at the creature, “What do you have to say for yourself, you little troublemaker?”
“Meow,” Sprite tilts her head up at him.
“Sorry about that guys,” Mateo says to the curtains.
“All good. Personally, I thought it was quite amusing,” Rod’s grin stares at Curt. Curt purposely ignores him.
“Aww, thanks for letting us off the hook,” Rod replies.
Curt snaps his head in the direction of his friend and glares. “And who said anything about letting you off the hook?”
“You just said it!” Rod argues.
“No, I said that Mateo was off the hook. Not you.”
Rod scoffs. “And what are you going to do about it?”
“This.” Curt lunges himself at Rod and tackles him to the floor. In less than a second, Rod is now the one giggling like a madman as Curt scribbles into his ribs.
“Huh, I think Sprite might have rubbed some of her menacing energy on me. Now I get why this was so fun,” Curt beams.
“Cuhuhuhuhurt!” Rod shouts.
Mateo shakes his head and chuckles. He looks at Sprite. “Even when you’re not involved, you’re still causing trouble.”
Sprite’s adorable eyes glance up at Mateo. The curves of her mouth almost seem to gleam with mischievous pride. She lets out a happy cry, “Meeeow!”
