“It’s not your fault either,” Kara hears herself saying, but she feels... well, mostly numb. There’s a vague sense of horror as they pick through the shriveled corpses, scattered where they fell on the streets of Argo City. She’d asked him to help her find this universe’s version of Krypton after their latest battle, a sort of morbid curiosity that she’d been trying to hold off for years but finally gave in to.
She knew they weren’t going to find anything good. She hadn’t been expecting this.
Maybe some part of her had hoped that in this universe, some other version of her had gotten to grow up on Krypton, gotten to help raise Kal and watch him grow up, but she had mostly expected to find the rubble and dust in the place her home planet used to be. She’d always sort of assumed that she and Kal weren’t on Barry’s Earth because they hadn’t made it out in time. Kara reaches out to grope blindly for his hand, needing some stability in the midst of this revelation.
“My... my house was this way,” she murmurs, tugging him gently in the direction of the science district. Red lightning cracks in the distance and she swallows hard. It’s so easy to recognize the ravages of the Medusa Virus on these corpses and the raging results of the Speedforce-altered timeline in the distant sky. This Krypton died slowly and painfully. She can only hope that the virus died with the planet and she’s not infected too.

Hartley sighed, sinking even further into his seat. Never did he think he would be at this point in his life... mourning the death of his idol turned traitor turned friend turned enemy, struggling to reconnect at any level with his family and... with a friend by his side. Someone who had more right to be hurt than him. Someone who really, had lost more.
Still, Hartley was selfish in the end... he knew he was. Otherwise, why would it be this way? “I've been drinking but the truth won't drown,” he sniffed, raising the third or fourth glass of whiskey he’d had that night. He hated whiskey, but here he was. “No... the truth won’t drown.”
