I’ve seen some 🔥amazing🔥 work for this competition and we should all be proud, no matter what! It’s been a hard year and this gave me the encouragement and motivation to finally finish this costume and it’s become my new favorite. 🔥💜Guess whose been back on the creative train??💜🔥 I’m finally at a point where I want to start posting again and I’ll be sharing the progress I’m making on Spyro for the @ultimatecosplaychampionship submissions next month! I still have a lot to do so I hope you’ll take this journey with me. This was the try-on I did nearly a year after my first wear at Katsucon and I was nervous (cause you know how 2020 kind of did a number on us all, plus I had surgery in November) but to my relief she fit great and I began making some additions and alterations! Here are some exciting things ahead: •Goldwork embroidery •painting the scales on the corset •beading and rhinestoning •completing the hip fins from my original design •fabric manipulation •increasing the size of the scale maille tail •adding scale maille pauldrons •a crown headdress •orb and scepter props • Still in love with the Saffron silk dupioni from @silkbaron. 🔥It’s the last day of 2019 and I want to share a special project with you guys! 💜🧡💛 This is my original design Spyro the Dragon. I took heavy historical influences from the 12 and 15 centuries of medieval Europe dress with the super long pooling layered dresses, the long open sleeves, spiral lacing in the bodice, double plaited hair with ribbons, and there will be finer embroidery and beading details. • The challenge of this piece is daunting for me. I want it to be very recognizable while also being something never seen before. It’s hard to do something original and it feels risk-taking as it’s almost 100% a passion project that no one else may care about, which is honestly something I need right now, as a reminder of why I make stuff in the first place. • This piece is supposed to be fashion leaning, though I admittedly went way more costumey, but I did take elements I love from @dior as well as costume designers @colleenatwoodofficial and @micheleclapton (who are my absolute idols in the industry). I also plan to slip in tiny details that nod to the Spyro trilogy games themselves as well as Skyrim because DRAGONS. • I’ll be using an array of materials and techniques like, @silkbaron dupioni, metallic scaled charmeuse, two-toned taffetas, fabric paints and dyes, crystals, glass beading, chains, metal filigree, goldwork, hand/machine embroidery, dragon scale smocking, worbla, foam clay, wire, gold leafing, and @theringlord scalemaille. • I’ve already begun so keep an eye out for some juicy WIP if you’re interested. This drawing doesn’t do the materials justice. **(This design is not open for others to cosplay, as it’s my artwork specifically for me to make a costume from so please be respectful of this.
