Show and tell. // This is what I've figured out so far and figured I'd share as other people sharing is how I got this far. My system, as with any DIY screen-printing system is far from perfect and will be tweaked as I go but so far this is working. // 1. The whole system. // 2. A JiffyClamp holds the whole thing to the table that I use to print posters on. // 3. A clusterfuck of random wood holds the screen up on the side that doesn't get attached to the clamps at a cartoon height so the screen is off contact from the board. I'm still tweaking this height. Hence the clusterfuck. // 4. The hinge side. Pretty basic. You an see the hinges screwed into the table behind it that I use for printing posters and art prints. // 5. The platen. This is a chunk of old skateboard attached to a block of wood that is then attached to a 2x4. This allows me to move the deck around under the screen/stencil to register multiple colors. // 6. & 7. Hold it still. I have a bag of these little pins from an old shelving unit that just happen to fit through the truck holes. It holds the deck to the platen. I imagine this will need to change in the future but for now it works. // 8. Once I have the deck registered under the screen/stencil I use another JiffyClamp to clamp the 2x4 to the press base as well as the table. I see a stand being built for this press to in the future. I'd like to be able to work from both sides if I want to. // 9. & 10. It accommodates large screens for the bottom graphics and smaller screens for the top graphics or smaller bottom graphics. // like I said, far from perfect and I've only successfully printed one deck top and bottom so far but everything feels right. I've got some screens drying. Gonna take another crack at that Blood Red Shred design tonight or tomorrow. Fingers crossed.
