Squall Line
4/3/2015.
The Low pressure system sitting over the Ohio River Valley will produce some severe weather across the map. If this low had set up further south, there would have been a greater chance for tornadic activity here near Starkville. I guess this is a good thing, however I was really looking forward to chasing some storms for the first time!
GFS Ensembles show more curvature at the southern end.
NAM precip 06Z showing a nice squall line extending from the Great Lakes to Mexico.
GFS 03Z showing a less intense squall line.
Canadian 4 panel- Vorticity, MSLP, Relative Humidity & precip. The Canadian shows a very long extending squall line as well, from the upper NE into the Gulf of Mexico.
With this long, extended squall line will come many threats cross the eastern US. Bow echos within the squall line will have the ability to produce very strong winds, hail and tornados. People should stay weather alert as this system pushes through. Here in Starkville, we will mostly see wind threats and possibly some hail; the majority will stay to our north.
Good news for Laura & Will however, this system will pass through around midnight tonight and temperatures in Starkville will cool down very nicely for the wedding tomorrow!! High of 65 and a low of 40... perfect wedding weather :D
