I love Strifehart Sunday!
» final goodbyes.
Such a way to go. After a long journey, Cloud knew that this had to finally end. Not everything lasts forever, that he knew, but never came to realization until now. Would he regret his own choice? Would he regret what's about to come? He wouldn't know until he actually committed to the dangerous feat he was about to do.
Standing near the side of the bed, Cloud's eyes appeared solemn, unsure of what he was about to do. His left hand gripped a letter tightly, which was scribbled with his own calligraphy not too long ago. The words were there that explained all, he acted very hesitant on his choice. Some part of him was wondering if what he was doing was right, when in fact, he knew things would only worsen if he resided with the brunette any longer.
All the pain he caused; from Sephiroth's actions, to clearly ripping away the heart that belonged to one so devoted to him. Cloud knew he would never deserve someone as dedicated to the relationship as Squall was. The gunblader's image came to mind as he looked down at the sheet of paper, his own heart receiving additional weight to it as his legs and arms felt stiff. Should he just drop everything wonderful he had? Nothing made sense anymore-- all he had been doing was affecting Squall and he knew nothing good would become of this relationship if he continuously hurts him.
There would finally be a breaking point between the two -- even if the man clad in black wouldn't think of it now, he knew. He always figured it out and expected it.
The words of the letter were short, basic. They would describe all that he's been feeling now, how he'd been feeling for so long. Doubt lingered within his thoughts as he reflected on what words were written on his paper; hopefully they'll explain everything and leave no more questions. He couldn't see Squall again, not now, not ever. This was his final action, this was the last time he'll ever see him again.
The stiff arm used to hold onto the paper was finally relaxed, enabling him to prop the paper on top of the bed they both shared -- or used to. After looking at it, he brought his right hand up, seeing the black glove cover his entire hands. The mako pools the blond possessed were pinpointing the bulge that protruded from his ring finger -- basing on the label for that finger, it was obvious what was located under the article shrouding it. Using his other hand, he pulled up the glove, removing it from his own hand, revealing a bright, diamond ring placed on his digit.
Without hesitation, he removed the ring, placing it on top of the letter. Hopefully, the faint light escaping from the window would be able to reflect from the diamond, making it sparkle and attract the brunette's attention once he finally enters the room.
Putting the glove back on, he shook his head slowly, feeling his heart ache just reflecting on what he's done. But, in life there are some regrets-- this, was one of them. His eyes almost stung for some reason, a reason he mentally inferred it to be tears, but was one he wouldn't accept. He shouldn't be shedding a tear, not now. This was his choice. Hopefully the gunblader would understand.
He made sure the house was completely empty before he was about to head out the door. Midway through the exit, he took one, final glance at the bar before heading out and driving away from the entire area, for good.
A small, single tear slowly made its way down his cheek as he reflected on the letter he wrote specifically for the gunblader.
'Squall,
This is the last time you'll hear from me. I never meant to hurt you after all the things I've done. Saying 'I'm sorry' after the mistakes I've made can never make up for it. I never deserved you. I don't deserve a family.. Probably why things happened the way they did.
I promise I won't cause any more pain to you than I already have. I don't want to hurt you anymore Squall..
- Cloud.'
