Anybody know any easy square dances? I have to write a lesson plan and teach one.

Back in 1973 Tommy Jackson broke out his fiddle and layer down 12 cuts that you can square dance to.  You can imagine a caller hollering out the steps to each of these tunes.  They sound like back ground playing but the musicians still sound like they are having some fun.  

Break this one out at the next square dance and swing your partner!

this is just something i wrote about the square dances that are where i live in the summer. they’re my favorite things ever ;) please dont copy, these are my words :)

We talk and laugh, you swing me around so that my feet don’t touch the floor.

The lights are up and the music plays,

people dance to those age-old songs.

We’ve been doing this since we were children, there’s no way we can stop now.

On that old wooden floor, our bare feet promenade to the sound of the diffle and we swing to the tune of the banjo.

Clasping hands with strangers that are friends for the dance, I swear this’ll never end.

My dress swirls as I do and your eyes reflect the joy in mine.

Summer nights, this is what we live for, laughing and spinning until we think we’ll fall down.

Nothing can touch us here; nothing can hurt us now.

Here is where we are invincible. Now is when I truly am alive.~
