Something I've seen in quite a few Linked Universe fics is the Links describing Twilight's Shadow Crystal as being Twili magic, or "shadow magic" and not "dark magic", whether that be Twilight himself or one of the more magically-inclined members of the chain. And that... kinda contradicts what we're told in-game, I think?
The Crystal is forced on Twi by Zant, a man who scoffs at Midna's insinuation that he's abusing their people's magic. No, his magic is that of his god — Ganondorf himself. It's magic that Twilight and Midna weaponised to their own advantage, sure, but it's still 100% Ganon-brand Evil Magic™.
I kinda wish more fics leaned into that. I feel like it gives him a much stronger reason to fear the others finding out its exact nature, and gives him far less avenues of defence should any antagonists start pointing out his regular use of it, since it can't be softened with "Twili magic is not evil magic" — it's not Twili magic, after all.
During his adventure, only the power of the Master Sword can purge it from his body, but by the time LU rolls around he's got enough control over that evil magic to do that by himself. The implications of that are interesting to think about for me. If he can control the dark magic the Crystal provides, could he possibly have influence over other forms of it? Might some weaker-minded monsters see him as one of them? Could light magic have an adverse effect on him?
Dunno, I just think there's some unexplored territory surrounding it that I haven't personally seen anywhere. Which isn't to say it hasn't been done already, I'm sure I'm far from the only person to think about this stuff, just that I haven't seen it anywhere myself yet.
