like i would like the boys to kiss but even if they don't i fully buy that all these kids have such a depth of feeling for each other and i really enjoy seeing it

things i love about dead boy detectives ep 4: the lighthouse leapers

crystal and niko have such different aesthetics and attitudes but they are such good friends

in hindsight jenny is 100% right about the secret admirer letters

charles's sudden desire to physically get away from port townsend as a manifestation of his emotional avoidence of the stuff the devlin house brought up

edwin making an effort to reach out to charles emotionally

"if i wanted to be around people, i'd haunt a denny's"

the boys will accept payment in the form of weird supernatural objects just because they like to collect them

edwin complimenting niko's detective instincts

the shapeshifter bit with the cat king is fun, actors playing someone else's character looking like their character is just one of my favorite movie magic things

the lil truth spell the cat king does on edwin? i'm obsessed with them

i think the cat king doth protest too much about edwin's cat count guess

the night nurse correcting those children on how death by being stabbed with a sword really works (big christopher lee energy)

edwin and niko just being good friends who want to know more about each other

cystal is also protective of edwin when the cat king comes up

edwin drifting off doing his heart eyes at charles

niko you can't just tell mick he doesn't look like a walrus

edwin is actually really smooth with monty

crystal asking for comfort and support from her friends

i think everyone is scared for charles because of his outburst at the night nurse but he reads it as them being scared of him :(

crystal and charles having their first kiss because they're both emotionally floundering and in need of connection feels like not the best decision but a very real one

niko is so non-judgemental and supportive I love her

venom 3 is not a well-constructed narrative but i did laugh and clap my hands every time venom became an animal so really what more can you ask for

okay so dead boy detectives ghosts can interact with physical objects when they choose to but do we think they can use touch screens? can they play games on crystal's phone?

i'm gonna be honest, i thought it was hot when esther and the cat king had their little tête-à-tête and she beat him to death with her cane

things i loved about dead boy detectives ep 1: the case of crystal palace

loved to see kirby back as death, i am less scared of dying in real life if she gets to take me

i hope we get to see more of crystal's victorian ghost child friend emma

edwin's read of emma as supernaturally experienced enough to absolutely have the means to pay them is a great characterizing moment

edwin is such a bitch and i love him so much

charles is a puppy dog and i love him so much

the actress who plays disguised edwin (lauren robek) is so good at matching george rexstrew's expressions

crystal goes through a lot this episode and kassius nelson absolutely kills it

every character makes such an immediate impression and i fell in love instantly

jenny is not maternal at all and i love that about her

esther is so fucked up and sexy, jenn lyon is insane for this

esther's iron cane gets its own bullet point because i'm obsessed with it

charles's cute flirting with crystal

edwin's very obvious jealousy

the way crystal is so matter-of-fact and unashamed about saying she's attracted to charles and would totally fuck him if he were alive

niko's curiosity and edwin's indulgence of it

he's immediately so charming

edwin immediately understanding and letting niko sit out the rest of the case

the bureaucracy of the afterlife fucking with the night nurse (she is a part of a bad system so it's good to see it work against her too) (nothing but respect for the notary)

the cats keeping an eye on edwin

the show really gets across how brutal and upsetting the devlin murders are without showing the violence explicitly and i appreciate that

you also really see how it's fucking with the characters

edwin and crystal learning to work together

edwin acknowledging that charles is important to both of them

i don't know if jayden revri is playing it differently or if it's behind-the-camera stuff or just context, but charles's behavior definitely reads differently post-devlin-house-revelations and that's good

edwin is clearly touched and affected by the effort monty put into writing up his astrological chart, which is very sweet and also communicates that he is not used to people being invested in him
