Icy’s 30 Days of Thanks Day #23: The Voltron Aftershow by squirenonny
It’s important to show appreciation for all things both big and small. As part of the giving season for the month of November I wanted to extend some shoutouts to 30 fanfictions that I’ve read and loved ♥
I would like to thank them for the joy they’ve brought me, the laughs, the tears, the curses, the stomach curdles, the winces, the flinches, the “yessss,” the squeaks, the squeals, the arm flailing and of course the time, effort and love they have given these stories and for sharing them with us all.
All shoutouts are tagged as Icy30DaysofThanks (cough, if Tumblr would be so kind to actually work >>) for you to peruse. Please be sure to give these authors the love and thanks they deserve with a comment, a follow, a rec, a reblog… thank you ♥
The Voltron Aftershow by @squirenonny
Summary: “This is the sort of work Voltron does?” Kolivan asked, cocking his head to the side.
Keith hunched his shoulders, second-hand embarrassment making him want to curl up in a ball on the floor as his friends and teammates stuck cardboard boxes on their heads and… “formed” “Voltron.” “I swear we never did this when I was a paladin.”
Keith gets to see the Voltron Show and has a little talk with the other paladins.
My notes: I love this glimpse into the more downtime aspect of the Blades and it is such a nice change to see Kolivan understanding how important’s Keith’s old team (his kin, to quote him here ♥) is to him and also a more innocent look at the Voltron Show (rather than what I like to make of it xD).
There's such lovely little small details in this fic; Shiro gliding around the ice skating rink looking so peaceful (and I just picture that so clearly and my heart is melting), Shiro's love of the Olympics, Keith getting kicked out a skating rink back on Earth, Lance and Hunk dabbing (and almost braining one another xd), and then of course the "fight" at the end. It's nice to see these kids being kids inside the war.
And the ending. Just turn me into a puddle. Found family and the concept of “home” gets me every time.
