#srwe troubleshooting

hello! I have a stupid question about srwe. I always align/compose my screenshots in tab mode but when I alt tab back into my game to take the screenshot, my game camera starts spinning around because I have to move the mouse in order to change the AR in srwe. how do I make the tab mode camera keep its position when using srwe? thank you in advance, your blog has been a massive help with taking better screenshots.

Hi there!

When you’re in tab mode the camera will freely move with the mouse. To stop that, you need to left-click with the mouse so the cursor appears, and then the camera will be fixed in position. As soon as you click on the game window again the cursor will disappear and the camera will start moving freely with the mouse again.

So when you’re using SRWE, make sure you don’t click on the window at all once you’ve composed your shot and set it in place. When tabbing out and back again, do it all with ALT+Tab, don’t do it by clicking on the window with the mouse.

Hi! I just updated my nvidia graphics drivers, and for some reason, I can't use SRWE anymore? I have to use a version from January 2019 (of nvidia graphics drivers) in order to hotsample. I would use 3000x3000. Now, I get an error message about my graphics hardware. Have you had this issue with the new nvidia drivers? I have a 1070ti, so I don't think it's my gpu being a butt.

I haven’t updated my drivers for a while (I’m very lax about that... I tend to only do it if I need to for some reason).

I don’t know enough to understand why this might be happening, I’m afraid. Theoretically it shouldn’t be happening -- all you’re doing is increasing the window size of the game you’re playing, which is exactly what you do when you change resolution options in in-game menus.

 You could ask Frans, who maintains SRWE on github. He’s usually very helpful, in my experience, but bear in mind he’s a busy guy so be respectful and don’t be too impatient!

You can also find him on flickr, and on the ReShade forum. I’m not sure where would be best to contact him. He’s helped me out on flickr before but we’ve known each other (just through screenshot stuff, not as friends) for a while, so that might not be best. The ReShade forum probably wouldn’t be either since, well, SRWE isn’t ReShade. So twitter is probably the best option, he seems pretty active on there. He’s also got a contact section on his website but I don’t know how often he interacts with that.

If you find out why it’s happening, could you please let me know so I can tell others if they have the same issue? It seems like something to be aware of. If you have problems getting in touch I’ll see if I can, but it really is best you speak to him yourself because I can’t help troubleshoot it because I don’t have your PC in front of me, you do!
